The Spring City. The Profile of Waukesha, Wisconsin

Tom Braatz, South Eastern Wisconsin : Real Estate Agent in Oconomowoc, WI

Years ago this City was resort City. People would come from miles around just to put their feet in the Fox river, have a mud bath at the Moor Downs mud baths, and the City was renowned for it's natural springs. It was deemed "Spring City"

Resorts were plentiful. There is a large bible college that used to house a famous resort on the corner of Arcadian and Hartwell. One really would have a hard time imagining the beauty that was Frame park. A beautiful park on the Fox river that had outstanding floral gardens, trelleses, ponds with fish, and views that were nothing short of amazing.

The city of Waukesha had numurous parks that had Spring houses in them. Perhaps this is what made the Fox Head brewery or Roxo soda company have such great products.Springs were abundant in Waukesha and as a resort town and spa city it was renowned for it's medicinal purpoeses and healing sources.

Waukesha is also the home of Les Paul. Les Paul is famous for developing the solid body guitar, and the first electric guitar. Music has changed for evr because of this man,and many of the World'smost famous musicians would attest to that fact.

The City of Waukesha is truly a beautiful City.

a very beautiful city, and can be enjoyed by all.

Sincerely

Tom Braatz

The heart of Lake Country. Profile of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin

Tom Braatz, South Eastern Wisconsin : Real Estate Agent in Oconomowoc, WI

Oconomowoc, Wisconsin: A City that is in the Heart of the Lake Country (edit/delete)

One can take a drive trough the City of Oconomowoc, located in Western Waukesha County and be amazed how beautiful homes sit on Pristine Lakes, and the Lakes surround this beautiful City. Full and History, and loaded with charm, Oconomowoc is truly a magnificent City to visit, and to work and live in.

The poineering and developing of Oconomowoc began in 1837 when the first white man, Charles Sheldon, came to this area to build his log cabin. He found that the Potowatomi Indians had already laid the foundation of what they called Coo-No-Mo-Wauk (where the waters meet, or river of lakes) which in time would become Oconomowoc.

As the town grew and word of its beauty and natural wealth spread, tradesmen began to arrive. One such early settler was a young man named John S. Rockwell. He built his griss mill, owned the first store and hotel, and enoted sites to all the churches. He started the fire department, the library, the elementary school, and more.

Fueled by its growing reputation, oconomowoc entered a new era marked by the title "Newport of the West." This started in 1870 and continued into the 1930s. Lured by Oconomowoc's great beauty, families of wealth from Chicago, St. Louis and Milwaukee crowded its Lake shores with palatial country mansions and lavished landscapes. At one time, Lake Road was referred to as "Presidents Avenue since Taft, Grant, Cleveland, Coolidge,McKinley and Teddy Roosevelt had visited and enjoyed Draper Hall and the hospitality of its wealthy residents.

Todays the summer mansions are year round homes, and the largely intact, late 19th century downtown and many stately historic houses are reminders of those years. Historic walking tours are available.

This truly is a very beautiful city, and can be enjoyed by all.

Sincerely

Tom Braatz

Tom Braatz, South Eastern Wisconsin : Real Estate Agent in Oconomowoc, WI

Mukwonago, Wisconsin. A small town that has become a focal point, growth, and History (edit/delete)

In the Southern end of Waukesha County sits a magificent area known as Mukwonago. A very pleasant town and Village that retains it's charm, and small town atmosphere.

Sure, growth can be seen by all the Commercial development out by the major interstate, but the town and the Village have done a magnificent job of maintaining beautiful old buildings, charming Lakes and Rivers, nature preserves, and santuaries, and large community parks. There is also the beautiful Vernon Marsh; a true show of nature, balance, and a large working eco system that is to be admired.

Mukwonago is situated at the southwestern flank of the sprawling Vernon Marsh, and encircles Upper and Lower Phantom Lake(s). The lakes lie midway along the Mukwonago River from its source springs to its meeting with the Fox River, which travels further southeast through Big Be
