Greenbrier Pines Subdivision, Lewisburg, WV
In 2004, my husband and I were in West Virginia attending my nephews wedding. Afterward, he suggested we drive to Lewisburg and checkout the area for a possible retirement area. Well, I fell in love with this quaint historical town. We found land for sale in the Greenbrier Pines Subdivision, about a mile from the town of Lewisburg. We purchased two lots and built our retirement home.
Greenbrier Pines is a superb residential neighborhood and one of Lewisburg's finest subdivisions. Greenbrier Pines is situated on 50 acres, and within the city limits of Lewisburg. One of the things that I liked about this subdivision is the underground utilities. Homeowner's association dues are $100. Elementary school is less than a mile.
Plus, the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. Greenbrier Pines is a great place to walk. You usually see the neighbors out walking, some with their dogs, children or both.

There are a few lots available for building your own dream house, and some houses for sale.

Lewisburg is a 221-year-old town with many 18th and 19th-century buildings, where the steeple clock still tolls the hour and the church bells ring out on Sunday mornings. Lewisburg is nestled in the heart of the Greenbrier Valley, and is the county seat. In 1978, a 236-acre area in the heart of Lewisburg was designated a National Register Historic District.
National Geographic Magazine has ranked Lewisburg among the best 75 small towns to visit in America. Inns, shops, cafes, and restaurants open onto its short streets. The galleries and theaters are busy year-round. Check out some of the great restaurants in the Lewisburg area, as well as specialty shops.
If you are a golfer...you will love the Lewisburg Elks Country Club. The Club is less than four miles from the Greenbrier Pines Subdivision.
The Lewisburg Elks Country Club, located ½ mile north of Interstate 64 on US Route 219, is enjoyed by everyone who plays here. Enjoy the eighteen distinctive and unique holes that meander over rolling countryside, or relax on the porch of the Clubhouse, Lodge and Restaurant, a majestic building that is reminiscent of the facility at The Masters.
Blackwell's Restaurant is located in the Lewisburg Elks Country Club. The food is delicious, service is fast, and has a great ambience with wonderful views of the golf course.
More golfing is just ten miles away at the famous award-winning Greenbrier Resort. This renowned property offers 721 rooms, including exquisite guest and estate houses and more than 50 recreational activities including three championship golf courses, indoor and outdoor tennis courts a 40,000-square-foot spa and more.
There is a wide array of outdoor adventures to enjoy in Lewisburg and the Greenbrier County.........hiking, biking, camping, caving, canoeing, fishing and even cross-country skiing!
Leave the hurry of the city behind without leaving the advantages it has to offer. Enjoy the tranquility of this exclusive community located inside Lewisburg city limits....approximately one mile from the historic downtown area.

A delightful evening with friends started with dinner at the Stardust Cafe and later a play at the Greenbrier Valley Theatre. We had tickets for the play "Sherlock Holmes, The Final Adventure." by Steven Dietz.
If you are going to the Greenbrier Valley Theatre, the Stardust Café is the place to dine since it is right across the street from the theatre.
The Stardust Cafe is fine dining and a casual atmosphere with lots of character and charm. When you walk in there is a large glass case full of yummy delicious desserts. The desserts are made by a local baker, Hall Hitzig, known as the Crazy Baker. Makes you want to skip the meal and go right to dessert.
Elizabeth Destiny is the owner of the Stardust Café, which use to be a meat market. Elizabeth, everyone calls her Destiny, has been the owner for the past five years. She uses only local produce, breads and pastries. BTW, the Crazy Baker is her brother.
Her staff is just lovely...REALLY! The waitresses were all dressed in black short length dresses with pearls....very classy.
Our table consisted of ten people, and our waitress, Sparrow, was outstanding... and with our crowd she handled our table with ease and a great attitude. The menu is short but sweet, and includes appetizers, soups, salads, and entrees.
Sparrow took our drink orders, and then brought us this delicious bread served with balsamic reduction and olive oil. Next, we were served fresh salads. The table orders for the evening varied from salmon, tuna, grilled shrimp and pork filets. I ordered the pork dish with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh asparagus...and it was absolutely delicious! The pork almost melted in my mouth it was so tender...and the sauce was out of this world GOOD. The food was terrific, as always. I have always had a good meal at the Stardust Café.
We did not have time for desserts...which saddened me as I wanted to try the sticky toffee pudding. I've heard this is soooo good and made by the Crazy Baker. I am thinking of ordering this dessert for gifts.
When visiting or shopping in Lewisburg, stop by the Stardust Cafe for coffee and pastries, breakfast, lunch, or wine and appetizers in the late afternoon. A word to the wise... dinner reservations is highly recommended. All the tables were filled and I noticed people walking in and buying coffee and desserts to go. Some actually returned an hour later in hopes to finding a table open.
As I mentioned, the food was delicious and delightfully presented. See the pictures.

For Stardust Café reservations, call (304) 647-3663; located on Washington Street, Lewisburg, WV.

It was a beautiful day for the Greenbrier County Board of Realtors annual picnic and golf tour today. Some Realtors took the afternoon off to golf, eat, and socialize. The golfers started their game at 2:00 pm, and the picnic started at 5:30 pm. Everyone brought a covered dish and the Board provided the meat and drinks. This event was held at the Elks Country Club in Lewisburg, West Virginia.
Congratulations to Nancy Sartor, Active Realty, the winner of the Door prize.... six months paid MLS Dues. Also, Marie Goodwin, Greenbrier Real Estate, won the big item on the Silent Auction...she receives a one year paid Board dues.

My covered dish was Vidallia Onion Dip, and I was asked for the recipe........So, here it is..........
Vidalia Onion Dip
1 C. Hellman's Mayo
1 1/2 C Swiss Cheese
2 C. Vidalia Onions - chopped
Mix all together. Pour into a greased casserole. Bake until top starts to brown at 350 degrees F. This will take approximately 35 minutes. I usually double this recipe for a party and sometimes bake at a higher temperature if I am in a hurry. Enjoy! (This is also good on Pepperidge Farm skinny bread too.)
