I recently wrote a post, Did You Know there are Four Carnegie Halls? If you had read the post, you would know that Lewisburg, West Virginia, has one.
For 25 years, Carnegie Hall, Lewisburg has operated as a regional center for the visual and performing arts. Such notable performers as Taj Mahal, Gillian Welch, and Issac Stern have performed on its historic stage. The next big event will be the 2009 Fantasy in White Fundraiser.
Mark your calendars for the next Garnegie Hall's Fantasy in White Costume Gala Event. The event will be on Saturday, July 25th from 7:00 PM until 11:00 PM at the West Virginia School of Ostheopactic Medicine's Alumni Center.
The evening will feature:
Tickets are $75 in advance and $100 at the door.
If you've never been to Carnegie Hall's costume gala event, this year is the year to be there. The event is sponsored by Lewisburg Diamond and Gold.
Hope to see you there ... come dressed in a costume (or not), eat, drink and be merry. Who knows you may win the diamond.

Did You Know there are Four Carnegie Halls? And, one is in my town.... Lewisburg, West Virginia. Nestled in the heart of the Allegheny Mountains lies this rare, historic treasure! Lewisburg, West Virginia is home to one of only four Carnegie Halls still in continuous use in the world. The other three are located in New York, Scotland, and Pennsylvania.
Music has been heard through the halls of this stately Georgian Revival structure for nearly a century.
The WV Carnegie Hall was built in 1902 by steel baron and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie as a classroom building for the Lewisburg Female Institute, later the Greenbrier College for Women.
WV Carnegie Hall was incorporated in 1983 as a regional not-for-profit arts and education center. Today, the cultural center annually serves more than 75,000 patrons with live performances by outstanding companies and artists from around the world, award-winning arts in education programming, classes and workshops, fine art exhibits, an independent film series and more!
To learn a more in-depth history of the Hall, click here to view our Wikipedia article.

I had a very smooth closing on Thursday. No glitches at all. The house sold for $390,000 and both the sellers and buyers were very happy. The lender was USAA Federal Savings Bank. The listing agent only talked once to the lender. Unblievable, I know! Both the sellers and buyers were happy with the closing.
But, after reading Martha Brown's post, Famous Last Words... Don't Worry...We Will Close On Time... Yeah Right, ..... I realized that I was very lucky to have a smooth closing. The listing agent, Lynn Tuckwiller, and I kept each other informed on all transactions, it was simply the best transaction to date.
I was lucky for two reasons: (1) Great listing agent and lender; and (2) even though I was sick, there were NO glitches, and the deal was a success. See my post, Just When You Get Sick...Real Estate Starts to Pick Up.
I've heard so many times the statement...."If you don't have your health, you have nothing". I find that statement so true. For two weeks I was connected to an oxygen tank with a 56 foot cord. A little cumbersome at times, but thank goodness it was only two weeks. There were a few times, I could have choked or fallen on this LONG cord that continuously kept twisting and causing a few, not so nice, words to come out of my mouth. But, the "life line" has been removed, and I am off of the oxygen. Just in time I might add.....I could see an accident in the making wth the cord.
So, with all this going on, it was hard to believe the closing had no glitches and was smooth sailing.

On May 2, My husband and I attended the wedding of Jessica Roczniak and Paul Grist. Jessica is a young artist, and Paul is an Auctioneer and a Realtor for Foxfire Mountain Properties.
The couple were married in the beautiful gardens of the General Lewis Inn in Lewisburg, West Virginia. Since it had rained the past few days and the weahter forecast was calling for more rain, a tent was erected for the wedding. It was beautifully decorated from top to bottom. The flowers throughout the garden and on each table in the tent were prepared by Gillespie's Flowers Productions, Main Street, White Sulphur Springs, WV.
And, OMG, the cake was absolutely delicious. The cake was made by Fruits of Labor, located on Morris Branch Road in Dawson, WV.
The weather cooperated nicely during the ceremony. It was a beautiful wedding for two beautiful people. We wish Paul and Jessica much happiness.
