Sheridan, WY

This weekend will be a great showcase for youth soccer in Sheridan, WY at the Big Horn Events Center (BHEC). It's really a great venue and a lot of fun as there will be 112 teams playing from the 10 and under age group up through the 14 year old division. This is sure to be a high energy event, filled with the enthusiasm of kids and soccer balls. Brought to you by MARS and the Sheridan County Soccer Association, the new 2008 MARS Big Horn Soccer Cup, formerly known as the SNICKERS Big Horn Mountain Cup, is sure to be just as great as the past events. Forest Mars graciously supplies plenty of treats for participants and spectators and this year there will be a Movie Under the Stars on a great big, blow-up, mega screen (rumor has it that it might be "Kicking and Screaming"). We are very lucky to have such great philanthropy and great events in Sheridan and Big Horn, Wyoming.

Tonight, I'd like to showcase our beautiful area with a video "Landscapes and Lifestyles". In this video, you'll get a taste of what it's like to live in or near Sheridan, Wyoming. Maybe you already live here, or have visited for some reason (dude ranch vacation, business, etc.). Feel free to post your impressions and reflections of our area. The Sheridan Area has many wonderful things to see and do and we think the Sheridan Lifestyle is fairly unique, which is largely due to the culture that has been established over the past 150 years by the people who live here. Soccer season is about to begin in the Cowboy State and the Sheridan Storm will have a number of really good teams competing. One of the really great venues for soccer, not only in Wyoming, but anywhere, is the Big Horn Events Center, which amazingly can simultaneously run 22 soccer games all at the same facility. This same facility is home to the Big Horn Polo Club, where polo is played all summer and many other activities. Take a look at Big Horn and Sheridan for a great early May trip to Wyoming, and then come back in the summer for a memorable summer vacation in one of the greatest places on earth.

The MARS® Big Horn Mountain Spring Cup is truly an amazing event.

The meadowlarks are singing and the sound of bulldozers and excavators fill the air. It is the sound of energy and wildlife at the base of the Bighorn Mountains. Many people want to keep the area unchanged. Many people want to take what is there and ship it to the surrounding area. The dirt covered trucks and the sound of equipment are music to my ears. It means that jobs are being created and we get to import less oil from Saudia Arabia. It means that we can carry guns in our trucks and have the opportunity to see large bull elk out our windows.

The sound of a meadowlark is prettier, but the sound of large trucks paves the way for America's freedom.

We who live here already know how great it is, but in 2006, Sheridan, Wyoming was voted the #1 Western Town in the US by True West Magazine and now Outdoor Life Magazine has selected Sheridan, Wyoming as the #3 town for outdoor living out of the best 200.
