My wife and I are currently on a trip to Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies in the province of Alberta. We have been here two days already and have seen much of the town of Banff on the Bow River. The weather has been perfect. What a romantic spot!
The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel is worth a visit--beautiful grounds; beautiful hotel!
We went to see Mozart's opera Cosi Fan Tutte last evening at the wonderful Banff Centre. It was fantastic! Tonight we will take in a new opera called Lillian Alling, written by John Estacio and John Murrell.
The town is bustling with tourists and the shopping is great with worthwhile sales in many of the shops. This is a great time of year to visit this little mountain town--near the end of summer.
There are many attractions in Banff; horseback riding, canoeing, golfing, hiking, cycling, hot springs, fine restaurants, entertainment, shopping, to name a few.
Coming into the town of Banff--waiting for the train to go by.
The Bridge over the Bow River separating the town of Banff from the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.
Looking west from the bridge up the Bow River.

Canoe rides on the Bow River.
Falls on the Bow River a short distance away from Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.
Flower Garden at the Valdhaus Pub.
If you have never visited this part of the world, I promise you will not be disappointed by the magnificent scenery!

First of all, I have never been able to figure out how to NOT say any words with my Wordless Wednesday posts. I guess I'm just a "talker." But I do manage to keep the word count down to a minimum...
While visiting my nephew in beautiful Banff this past Easter, we drove by the place he lived until just recently. Honest to goodness, this is the intersection he lived at, and this is the actual street sign. How much fun it would be to be able to give these directions to my house, "I live at the corner of Rabbit and Squirrel!"
All of the streets in this area had animal names. I snapped a few before the people in the car with me lost their enthusiasm to stop at every corner so I could take a picture and refused to let me out of the car anymore!
It's just not POSSIBLE to see this and not smile! Scroll down in the comments to see some others....
