Real estate buyers looking to get out of city while remaining close enough for a commute or the convenience of being close to calgary have options. Real Estate in Strathmore vs. Chestermere is a common decision for property shoppers in this category.
I have sold properties in both communities and am not here to convince anyone that one is better than the other. I am simply highlighting some of the advantages and differences that they have. All buyers have unique needs which allow real estate in Strathmore to be a better fit for some and Chestermere for others.
The public perception that these two communities have is very different. Chestermere is viewed as a "bedroom community" which means that people almost consider it a suberb of Calgary. The majority of Chestermeres' population works in the city and enjoys a very short commute (Chestermeres' commute is 15-20 min shorter than Strathmores'). Strathmore on the other hand has more of a small town, rural community feel even though their population is very close to Chestermeres'. A fair portion of Strathmores' population commutes to the city as well but it has more farming, oil and gas, and industry presence. The concept of community is very important to Strathmore residents.
One of the major differences is that Strathmore has a hospital and chestermere does not. This feature is very important to young families. Residents of chestermere do not have to go far for medical attention because the Peter Lougheed hospital in Calgary's North East is only 10 minutes away.
If you are a water lover, Chestermere has the pleasure of offering its lake which is is viewed by many as a big perk of living in the community.
Strathmore holds an advantage in the amenities department. Strathmores' recreational facilities are considered by most to be Superior. Strathmore has more restaurant and fast food options. It also has more retail options such as Walmart, Canadian Tire, Home hardware and Totem. Chestermeres' saving grace once again is that they can take a short drive to the city to fulfill these needs.
Both Real Estate in Strathmore and Chestermere are good investments and I would once again like to reiterate the fact that they are both excellent options. Everyone is different and what is right for some may not be right for others. I would love the opportunity to help you explore Real Estate in Strathmore and Chestermere so that you can make an educated decision that best suits your unique needs.
