I just came across of an article and according to it, the recent study shows that Calgary, Vancouver and Ottawa were among the largest cities that are attractive to migrants. The cities were assessed in the following categories: education, health, society, economy, environment, innovation and housing.Of course Vancouver was voted for its warm climate and cultural diversity. Calgary was placed on the top of the list for its economy and strength in the housing category. Ottawa received high ranking for education and innovation. Interestingly nothing was mentioned about health care or environment. I guess it is always an issue in a bigger cities. What do you think?

I've heard it said time and time again in the last few weeks. The Bottom has been reached on home prices in Airdrie and Calgary. If buyers are still waiting for prices to go down you're too late!
I think there is some merit here. In a recent visit to a New Home Builder they have already increased their prices by 3%. Another New Home Builder is looking to increase their prices by $5000.00. On the pre-owned home front, most sellers I've talked to are waiting for spring to raise the price of their home.
SO - with nothing more than what New Home Builders and Sellers are doing - I too believe the bottom has been there and done that.
Investors - First Time Home Buyers - now is the time to jump in and buy what you want. The price for a home is right.
Our Annual FORECAST BREAKFAST is January 20th - All of us Calgary Realtor and Surrounding Area Realtors will be heading to the convention centre to hear great speakers and hear what the market will be like for 2010 by all the experts. I'm looking forward to this!!!
HOME PRICES TO RISE IN SPRING -
P.S. just heard on the news this morning Calgary made the top city to live in Canada. (Airdrie is wonderful too....)

The 2010 Olympic Torch Relay arrives in Airdrie , Tuesday January 19th at 5:30 pm MST, it will begin the relay at Hawkey Crescent and Main Street at 5:30 p.m. as it makes it's trek to East Lake Park for celebration activities.
We are very fortunate to have the Olympic Torch come through our community, it's a great chance for all of us to come together and feel a little piece of the Olympics. The Olympics is being held in Vancouver British Columbia, it is still a national occasion, and all of Airdrie is honoured to be part of it.
The Torch route starts at Hawkey Crescent, the torch will travel south on Main Street to Big Hill Springs Road. From there, it will travel east on Big Hills Springs Road (Yankee Valley Road) to East Lake Blvd. From there, the torch will head north on East Lake Blvd. to the celebration site at East Lake Park.
Once at the celebration site, we are all proud to have torch bearer Daniel Brown bring the torch up on a stage for its grand entrance at approximately 6:30 p.m. Airdrie's own 18 year-old Daniel Brown, is an active member of the community, has volunteered his time and shares a great spirit despite his challenges with cerebral palsy.
Alberta country music artist Corb Lund will perform at East Lake Park in fact he'll be doing two performances, it promises to be a great show.
Other activities will include a fireworks display at approximately 7:15 p.m. along with other events.
Anyone hoping to watch the torch relay would probably get the safest and easiest view from Main Street.
I look forward to seeing you all there

Lethbridge Real Estate - Manufactured Homes
Another short video I made, showing a local Lethbridge manufactured home dealer. Here in Lethbridge we are fortunate to have 2 large manufacturers of prefabricated homes and several dealers who sell them. These manufactured homes have come a long way from the days that they were referred to as 'trailers' or 'mobile homes'.
These Lethbridge homes are now build in a climate controlled indoor factory to the same construction standards as a site built home. Many of the floor plans resemble those of local Lethbridge new home builders, with many of them designed to be set on full basements.
Lethbridge mortgage financing is also much easier to secure on these properties than it was in the past. This has been a welcome change and made these properties much more accessible.
Check out the video if you want some info on Lethbridge manufactured homes. I apologise for the craptastic quality of the video, it was my first day trying this out and it was -20 degrees out. I promise to make better quality ones when it warms up.
