Coyote Springs NV Developer Continues Water Fight

Coyote Springs NV Developer Continues Water Fight

Harvey Whitmore Coyote Springs Nevada developer continues his fight for water rights that his Tuffy Ranch Properties LLC filed for in March of 2005. Fifty four water rights were filed with the water engineer to change existing underground water rights. These water rights are located 100 miles away from Coyote Springs NV in Lake Valley Nevada and are currently for irrigation and Tuffy Ranch Properties LLC is trying to change to domestic use for the development at Coyote Springs Nevada, a project located 50 miles north of Las Vegas Nevada. Harvey Whitmore has stated this water would amount to 20% of his water needs for the Coyote Springs NV project.

White Pine County and the Federal Bureau of Land Management have protested this application. The Coyote Springs development resides mainly in Lincoln County and small portion in White Pine County. My question is do we care for the ranches and environment or are we really jockeying for more revenue from Harvey Whitmore? I guess I would do the same if I was White Pine County. Harvey Whitmore asked for a hearing as soon as possible and was granted a hearing on March 31st of 2008. My question to Harvey is..... do you really need this much water...... or are you positioning yourself to be one of the eventual power water brokers in the state of Nevada. Even if his coyote springs development project did not take off the ground, he could recoup millions maybe billions of dollars from his water right acquisitions. Sure would be a lot less trouble than building a city in the desert. Just thinking out loud.

Is That a Light at the End of the Las Vegas NV Tunnel?

Tim enjoys pursuing and sharing the best business practices across the United States and sharing them with the agents who call RE/MAX Advantage Las Vegas NV home. Here is Tim's Las Vegas real estate snapshot of the week.

The Pending Index moves up to 80! Another week (that makes 2 consecutive) of increased pending sales in the market. How good is this news? Again too soon to really tell but considering we are entering the 2 slowest months of our market (historically), positive movement in pending sales might suggest some new interest in the market. Recent home sale events offered by new home builders offered up to 20% discounts on new homes purchases. We expected a vacuum effect ...
