Oak Island, North Carolina
My family, all 19 of us, and I are on day three of a weeks vacation in Oak Island, North Carolina. It's great to be on vacation with family. There is family here from West Virginia, Texas, Ohio and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Tonight, after the sun sets, I plan on taking the boys out looking for crabs on the beach. If you've never been crab hunting you don't know what you're missing. We always release the crabs we catch. =)
I've noticed that every other beach house has been for sale. I think it would be fun owning a beach house somewhere on the North Carolina coast.
As always, if you're considering buying Charlotte real estate please give me a call.
Charlotte's location is perfect for a road trip
Charlotte, North Carolina has many great things going for it - which is why so many people chose to relocate to the Queen City. One of the best things about Charlotte is its strategic location. You can hop in your vehicle and be on the beach or the mountains in 3 hours! Weekend trips are commonplace for Charlotteans because of its central location.

Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation
Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation is a beautiful golf/swim/tennis community located in Mint Hill, North Carolina. Many people are unaware that the Olde Sycamore clubhouse has great food at a fantastic price. I recently meet a friend there for lunch and my bill was less than ten dollar.
Olde Sycamore is only minutes from the new mall, The Bridges Of Mint Hill, that is currently under construction off the Lawyers Road exit on I-485.
If you have questions about Olde Sycamore or The Bridges Of Mint Hill please feel free to email me at Brian@4Charlotte.com.
Charlotte - the job seekers pot of gold?
Charlotte has become a mecca for professional job seekers coming from other areas of the country without a job expecting to find employment easily based on all the hype they have heard about Charlotte's hot economy.
What they find when they arrive is not always what they expected.
Jobs are getting harder to find in Charlotte as the economy has been affected by the national mortgage crunch and sagging national economy.
While the Charlotte job market has performed better than the national average, particularly when compared to areas such as the Midwest, 80,000 newcomers a year are not always finding it so easy to land employment within the first months of their arrival as they had hoped.
White collar professionals will tend to have an easier time than those who have been laid off from such areas as the auto industry.
Job search support groups are available for those who are still searching.
In the end, you may be better off landing a job before coming to Charlotte. If you do plan to relocate without a job, make sure you have an emergency fund to see you through until the right job comes your way!
Attack of the worms!
As of 7:20 a.m. today, planes departing from Monroe Region Airport headed to the Charlotte area are unleashing an all out assault against a worm infestation of the city's trees.
The four-day campaign is being led by city arborist Dan McSween in cooperation with the Michagan based spraying company Al's Aerial Spraying.
Charlotte's $1.1 million campaign to hault what arborists say is one of the nation's worst cankerworm infestations will cover 63,000 acres of Charlotte over a 5 day span.
Charlotte officials say the effort is necessary because the cankerworms kill trees and in Charlotte the pesky caterpillars prefer the willow oaks that are common throughout the area.
According to experts, the colorless and odorless spray, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), is not harmful to humans - including pregnant women or pets. Once th canker worm ingests the poison, there digestive tract is paralyzed and they stop feeding within hours. They die from starvation.
Have questions? Contact the city information line at 311, or check the Charlotte website cankerworm.charmeck.org for information.
