Recent events have left some folks confused over the bail out. They thought , hey of we pas this bill things will get better. So why is the market down and doom and gloom economic number coming from every where ?
The politicians did a good job with this bill in the end. The first time it died. In the end they said it was good for main Street. By extension you thought that is you and me. But the bill was really meant to solve a crisis in the capital markets. I do not work in those markets . Most of us do not. So the Economy is really the issue.
The bailout bill is meant to keep money flowing in our economy period. But if there is no demand and the numbers are soft then things do not get better. The real issue is and has been the economy. The bail out is an expensive side show aimed and maybe keeping things fro getting worse.
Lets end on a good note. The economic slow down means the use of less oil. So hopefully the price of gas will go down. We are seeing this in some areas and the price of oil is going down. We are not in for rough times, we are in rough times. Smile, work hard ,take a deal you normally would not take. When you exercise you are told to drink water and stay hydrated. Like wise in this economy stay as liquid as you can.
There are a ton of aspects to this bail out that may or may not effect us. I am curious about one of those aspects. Will the bail out make the short sale market and the REO market get tougher or dry up?
If the banks are having their paper being bought up will they still be looking to "deal" on these ? I am seeing this as a potentially unintended consequence of the bill. But I am not sure if my logic is correct. So please email me or comment on this blog. Do you think the bailout will make banks less likely to deal on REO's and Short Sales?
This week in our markets we have had a great deal of turmoil. We have had bills fail. The stock market plummeted. The economic numbers were grim. "THE BILL" passed thru the Senate. Credit started to freeze up. The house got scared and passed the bill. Wall Street still tanked( Remember the rule , the market rises on the rumor and falls on the fact. So what should happen next week ?
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I would like to see a week where I can look at the leaves changing. A week where I can split wood with the Oldies station and not CNN on in the back ground. I week where we can all take a breath and let things start to sort themselves out. As a people I think we need it. Are we going to get it ? Time will tell. Here's to answering the question , "What's happening?" with "Absolutely nothing" ( Except maybe a couple of listing sales of course)
This weekend is the Jasper Marble festival see you all at the cotton candy stand !!!!
Ok let me see if I can answer the why. This is not a Wall street Bail out any more. When the Governor of California tells you he cannot get money to pay police we are passed Wall Street. When a chicken farmer in Georgia tells me he doesn't know if he will be in business because his supplier cannot get the money to be able to send him chcks we are passed Wall Street.
I listened to the debate today and while Ron Paul and a whole bunch of other folks were 100 percent correct about the problems and the changes needed they were dead wrong about what to do. It doesn't matter if your right but there are no police or fire folks in your town because they cannot get paid. That is where we were going and in a hurry.
So we can all hate the bad guys and say never never again. And we can insure we get paid back. This bill is a start to fix a problem. It's like some one throwing you a life preserver while you wait for the rescue ship. Let's stay focused on Congress when they come back in session to make sure they get it right
Last night I watched the VP debate. I watched it because I believe I should be judged by my words and actions not by what other people say about me. So I watched the debate to judge the 2 candidates. With out getting into who won or lost, I was generally pleased with the quality of the debate. I did feel that Gov. Palin did not answer a lot of the questions. At one point she even said I may not be answering the questions.... So for me coming across as "down home" was not enough. There were a couple of issues that Biden did not answer either but he did a better job of staying on point. Now you do not have to like his answers . But he did answer more.
Something that was interesting that my wife pointed out was after the debate it was Joe Biden that went over and shook Palins fathers hand and took the initiative in introducing the families. Different eyes see different things . All in all I was impressed with the quality of the debate from the 2 and was actually heartened by the substance and talk about issues. I think they did better than the 2 tops of the ticket did a week earlier. How nice !!!
