Visit Greeley's Xeriscape Garden

Greeley Garden Tour

The City of Greeley's Xeric Demonstration Garden will be one of the several stops along the Greeley Garden Tour route and stands as is an example of how a lush, blooming garden can also improve the soil and save water and provide habitat.

The Fourteenth Annual Greeley Garden Tour is sponsored by the Centennial Chapter of Operating Room Nurses, UNC School of Nursing Emeritus Faculty, the Colorado Nurses Association (District 8) and the City of Greeley Water Conservation Program. The event will be held Saturday, June 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tour stops at several outstanding gardens around the City of Greeley, including the Xeric Demonstration Garden at 2503 Reservoir Road.

Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at Lolly's, Happy Life Nursery, Eaton Grove, and at the Greeley Water Conservation Office at 1100 10th Street, Suite 300 . Cash and checks will be the only forms of payment accepted; make checks payable to Centennial Chapter A.O.R.N. Proceeds from the tour will be applied to community outreach projects, nursing scholarships and nursing education.

The City of Greeley Water Department's Xeriscape Garden began in 1997 as an example of Xeriscape for Greeley residents. Xeriscape is a type of garden that requires less water than a traditional lawn. It is a common misconception that this type of garden is made up primarily of cactus and rock, but Xeriscape can be a lush mix of perennials, annuals, ornamental grasses, bulbs, trees, shrubs and turf.

The demonstration garden on Reservoir Road is blooming with lilacs, shrub roses, tulips, daffodils, Daylilies and chokecherry bushes along with a weeping willow tree, low growing junipers, and other Xeric flowers, trees and plants.

At the crest of the garden's hill, a sculpture fountain, "Oasis," stands in tribute to Greeley 's founding fathers and their insight into assuring an ample water supply for the City. The sculpture depicts mountains with water running to the plains, accompanied by historic photos of Greeley founders and settlers.

RECREATION

2nd Annual Greeley Grand Prix

May 26-27, 2007 (Memorial Day Weekend)

Though only in its second year at Greeley, the Grand Prix has already become one of the premier events in Colorado and includes the most competetive and exciting classes in the Rocky Mountain area!

Probably the most exciting moment in any kart race is the first turn after the green flag. With the tightly packed field and racers jockeying for position, tension is high and it takes a lot of skill and a bit of luck to get through clean. While most classes use a standard rolling start, the shifter classes ad to the spectacle with F1-style standing starts!

The Greeley Grand Prix will host a full range of classes from the entry level Kid Karts (5-7 yr olds) to the ultimate in sprint racing the ICC Pro Shifters capable of 125 MPH wheel to wheel blasts down the main straightaway!

The weekend will begin with practice sessions to get karts and drivers dialed in to the track and weather conditions. After rotating through the classes, there is a round of qualifying, in which the drivers have about 15 minutes to set their fastest time and determine in what position they will start for the heat race. Depending on their finishing position in the heat race, they will be positioned in a starting grid from 1st place onward for the mains crowning a 2007 Greeley Grand Prix champion in each respective class.

Don't miss this year's exciting Grand Prix races!

Weld County represents a highly diversified economy with a strong primary-sector base. Rooted in agri-industry and food processing, the economy has grown and diversified substantially over the past 25 years. Abundant natural resources, a well-educated work force, and access to the finest transportation routes all add up to the fact that Weld County in Northern Colorado is an ideal place to do business.

Weld County also offers an outstanding quality of life. Located within a 60-mile radius of Greeley are five major universities offering many cultural and athletic events. The Denver-metro area forms the county's southern boundary and the Rocky Mountains frame the horizon to the west.

Getting a cheap inspection (one of 3 deadly mistakes listed by NACHI)

05-04-07
Authored by: Brian Persons

Getting a cheap inspection.

Buying a home is probably the most expensive purchase you will ever make. This is no time to shop for a cheap inspection. The cost of a home inspection is very small relative to the home being inspected. The additional cost of hiring a certified inspectoris almost insignificant. As a homebuyer, you have recently been crunching the numbers, negotiating offers, adding up closing costs, shopping for mortgages and trying to get thebest deals. Do not stop now. Do not let yourReal Estate agent, a patty-cake inspector oranyone else talk you into skimping here.

NACHI front-ends its membershiprequirements. NACHI turns down more than1/2 the inspectors who want to join because they can't fulfill the membershiprequirements.NACHI certified inspectors perform the bestinspections by far. NACHI certified inspectors earn their fees many times over. They do more, they deserve more, and yes theygenerally charge a little more. Do yourself afavor...and pay a little more for the quality inspection you deserve.
