Environmentally friendly home for sale on Maui , ( 11/27/07)

WAILUKU, Maui — Just in time for Christmas, Towne Island Homes is preparing to offer for sale "the most environmentally sensitive home ever built in the Hawaiian Islands."

Towne has a stack of awards from the recent Building Industry Association Parade of Homes to back up its claim.

And at $2.5 million, the four-bedroom, four-bath home in Koa at Kehalani is a bargain. It cost Towne considerably more to build it.

That was OK, said Mike Mervis of Zilber Ltd., Towne's parent company, because it was a research and development project.

Although the project was undertaken for Zilber's residential side, it has provided unexpected spinoffs already for the company's industrial and commercial work. For example, Zilber is rebuilding a huge abandoned Pabst brewery in its headquarters city of Milwaukee, and the bioswales used on Maui are being incorporated there

In einer vor kurzem entstandenen Studie wird im Jahre 2020 der Wassermangel ein weltweites Problem sein. Unsere Wasservorraete werden uns nicht mehr ausreichen. Also ist ein Umweltfreundlicher Umgang mit unseren Wasservorraeten nicht nur eine “gute Sache”, sondern auch eine Notwendigkeit, wenn wir wollen das auch unsere Kinder ausreichend Wasser haben.

Es ist eine Tatsache das Canada weltweit der zweitgroesste Wasserverbraucher (nach den U.S.A.) ist. Im durchschnitt verbraucht jeder einzelne Kanadier bis zu 65.000 Liter Wasser im Jahr.. Das ist zweimal soviel wie der Verbrauch eines Franzosen, dreimal soviel wie der durchnittliche Deutsche, beinahe viermal soviel wie der durchschnittliche Schwede, und mehr als achtmal soviel wie der durchscnittliche Daene verbrauchen wuerde. In diesem Masse werden unsere Wasservorraete (hauptsaechlich unser Grundwasser) nicht mehr ausreichen, um unseren immer ansteigenden Beduerfnissen und anwachsender Bevoelkerung gerecht zu werden.

Dieses bedeutet das sogar hier in Kanada, in unseren eigenen Staedten wir in Kuerze einen Wassermangel erleben werden. Immer mehr Staedte in Kanada haben angefangen den Wasserverbrauch zu besteuern.
Vermerk : Kanada ist geographisch im Besitz von 47% des Trinkwassers weltweit.

Also sollten wir diese Moeglichkeit wahr nehmen, um unserer Umwelt etwas zugute kommen zu lassen und gleichzeitig Geld sparen.

Wenn sie in betracht ziehen das min.35 % ihres Wassers ( und ihr Geld ) die Toilette heruntergespuelt wird, macht es Sinn etwas dagegen zu tun!
