I found this post unfinished in my draft file, wow what a blur the last few weeks have been! Rather than change it, I am posting it in the spirit that it was written in a couple of weeks ago.
Tropical Storm Fay dropped more rain on Brevard County Florida than anywhere else, more than all of the 2004 hurricanes did in Florida all together! There are many people homeless and suffering as I write this, and there are good stories starting to rise to the top. Many good neighbor stories and community efforts are seen more and more. One of them stood out to us the day after the storm finally cleared.
We Witnessed The Good In People in Our Own Front Yard!
Business slowed some the week of the storm for obvious reasons, Internet interruptions, inability to travel and so forth. My husband is the police chief in Rockledge where we live. Needless to say, this week was a long one. The first day of the storm a 30 foot tree was knocked down by the wind in our front yard. We cleared enough to get in the driveway and went on. My husband and son started clearing the tree on Friday after the storm was clearing. Shortly after starting, the chainsaw stopped working and that was the end of
that for the night.
Fast Forward to Saturday Morning on the First Sunny Day in a Week
The doorbell rang on Saturday morning. Our neighbor across the street stood there with two chainsaws asking if we would allow him to cut the tree up! Now, he had no way of knowing that our chainsaw was broke! He told my husband that he knew he had been working 24/7 all week and wanted to help us out. This seemingly small act of kindness sent our spirits soaring after a long and gloomy week!
The good in people can be found whenever neighbors are in need, it is something that we should all remember. Hurricane Gustav is barreling through the Gulf as i write this. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who are in harms way. This storm will bring forth many stories of heroes behind the scenes who help others out in an unselfish manner like our neighbor did.
Topping it off, another neighbor in our subdivision of Timbers West in Rockledge Florida stopped my husband yesterday on the way home. Seems he has some 12 foot oak trees in containers that he has no need for and gave us one to replace the tree we lost! It is so wonderful living in a great town known for the kindness between neighbors. We are truly blessed!
The City of Rockledge just hosted the final 2008 Cruise-On-In Car Show at McLarty Park on August 2nd. More than 150 classic and muscle cars were enjoyed by over 1000 people. These events are getting larger and better each time Rockledge has one. As always, t
here is fun for the entire family along with great music and cars. The event was sponsored by the Citizens Advisory Committee, the Rockledge Redevelopment Agency, and the Rockin Rodders Car Club!
The Annual Hot Rockin' Nights Car Show Returns to Barton on October 25th!
The 8 million dollar Barton Boulevard Redevelopment Project was just finished, and the Annual Hot Rockin' Nights Car Show returns to Barton for an awesome afternoon and evening of family fun. Rockledge expects nearly 500 cars for this 5th annual event! Music will be by DJ "Fast Eddie", and there will be food and drinks for everyone! This should be an extra special event with the new layout of Barton Blvd. Come join us on this special night and see some really cool old cars!

It was our first sunrise walk on the beach, while staying at a Cocoa Beach Condo. The beach was not crowded, and only the sound of the waves and birds could be heard. As we got closer to a small group of people, we discovered the Bird Man of Cocoa Beach!
Opportunities Abound for Family Fun in Cocoa Beach
Ron Jon's Surf Shop, the Cocoa Beach Pier, fishing, boating and surfing can all be enjoyed in Cocoa Beach. But this morning, the main attraction was the Bird Man. Small groups gathered and took photos as the morning came alive. According to locals, he is out there every morning. This was truly an amazing sight! One with nature, there is something for everyone in Cocoa Beach Florida!
Come join us for a magnificent sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean in Cocoa Beach!
Cocoa Beach is famous for many reasons, and the brilliant sunrises tops them all. The beach is so tranquil at this time of the day, with only the sounds of the waves and birds to accompany you. Taking a walk during the sunrise is breathtaking and changes with every step you take!
A Place Where Memories Live and are Conceived
Watching the sunrise is wonderful, and it stirs memories of many sunrises ago. When we were children, families would fish early in the morning, and watching the sunrise was the highlight of the day. The race was on to see if the bacon and eggs were done on the wood fire before the sun was up. As soon as the light of day shined, the nets were brought up for inspection and harvesting.

Thousands of Paintings in Each Sunrise!
Each sunrise on the beach contains thousands of paintings for those who would like to capture them. Try it sometime, it seems to add meaning to the days to come, and days gone by!
