My wife Nicole and I on an 260 acre farm in the Loess Hills of Western Iowa with our two labradors Madison (Black) and Emma (Chocolate). Living in the country gives us many opportunities for outdoor activities so you can imagine I'm very much an outdoorman. I enjoy just about anything you can do outdoors. Some of my favorite hobbies whitetail deer, hunting, cooking, carpentry, photography and technology. In my free time I also love working around the farm whether its working on our food plots, ponds, fixing fences, cutting firewood, or keeping the pasture weed free. I also enjoy restoring small areas back to native prairie grasses where I can. My favorite hobby is easily deer hunting in Iowa. Something very unique about Southwest Iowa is that fruit grows very well in Loess soil. We have many orchards in the areas and grape growing for wine production is becoming very popular in Southwest Iowa. Take a look at the Western Iowa Wine Trail website for information on vineyards and wineries in the area. As these wineries dot our countryside so do apple orchards and other fruit dealers that sell everything from sweet corn, jams, pies, pumpkins and other garden produce. Come spend a weekend on the Western Iowa Wine Trail and visit some of the places. I assure you that once you do it, you'll make it a yearly trip. Something else we have that is great is the Loess Hills State Forest. The wonderful folks from many different conservation organizations along with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources saw the wisdom in preserving the Loess Hills for future Living in Southwest Iowa, whether you live in town or in the country is a great experience. We have great schools, great people, and have been so blessed with beautiful land and great attractions. Some of the larger populations centers in Southwest Iowa include from north to south Onawa, Missouri Valley, Council Bluffs, Glenwood, Red Oak, Shenandoah and Clarinda along with many smaller towns in between.
