Welcome

A little bit about me in no particular order!  Real Estate was not my first career. Neither was auctioneering. Before becoming a real estate agent and auctioneer I worked in the wildlife conservation field and was a police officer.  My experience and education prior to becoming an agent have laid the groundwork for where I am going and the service I want to provide.  In college I studied Fish and Wildlife Biology and Land Management the first time.  Later I went back to college and studied Business Management. I am also a graduate of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy (133rd Basic) and the World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa.   Today as a business owner I serve the real estate needs of the rural community and help those that want to live the country dream by making it a reality. Having lived within city limits in the past I understand your desire to move to the country and can give you the good advice you need to choose the right property.  Farms, Acreages, Farm Land, Hunting Land.... if its rural, I do it!

My wife Nicole and I on an 260 acre farm in the Loess Hills of Western Iowa with our two labradors Madison (Black) and Emma (Chocolate).  The farm includes row crops and a mix of pasture, timber, ponds and food plots.  We take pride in managing the habitat on our farm for whitetail deer which benefits all spieces of wildlife. Actually living on a farm has taught me many lessons about rural living.  If you want to make the move choose a Realtor that understands rural living.

Living in the country gives us many opportunities for outdoor activities so you can imagine I'm very much an outdoorman.  I enjoy just about anything you can do outdoors.

Some of my favorite hobbies whitetail deer, hunting, cooking, carpentry, photography and technology.  In my free time I also love working around the farm whether its working on our food plots, ponds, fixing fences, cutting firewood, or keeping the pasture weed free.  I also enjoy restoring small areas back to native prairie grasses where I can.

My favorite hobby is easily deer hunting in Iowa.  I hunt the archery and muzzleloader seasons, and as with all serious deer hunters the hobby is a year round hobby and not just a few months out of the year.   In the off season I spend alot of time photographing deer and learning more about them.  The photo you see is of a deer I was able to photograph this year in a bean field.  Iowa is well known for it trophy whitetail and it is one of the biggest tourism draws in the area I live.  The Loess Hills State Forest in Monona, Harrison, and Pottawattamie Counties is over 12,000 acres.  I'm lucky enough to live across the road from one of the largest pieces of the Loess Hills State Forest!

Jason's Areas of Expertise

I think differently than other agents, or at least identify with other high tech, highlyIowa Hunting Land For Sale creative agents that "think outside the box"  I can do everything they do old style, but I take it to a different level.  I use technology to your advantage.  I love the internet and the great opportunities it presents.  Thats why you can see me here!

Farms and farm land in Iowa.  Farm land may also double as Hunting Land and it is always important to consider that as an option for your sale. I sell land by private treaty or public auction.

Acreages- Representing buyers and sellers of acreages or hobby farms in Southwest Iowa.  To find the perfect acreage you need somebody that knows the country and whats available.  Thats where I come in. I spend a lot of time finding acreages through many sources and keep track of where they are at.  Selling your acerage then you need an agent that knows and markets acreages.  My personal website is packed full of information on acreages and the only website dedicated solely to Acreages for sale in Southwest Iowa.  If the link does not work look up www.LoessHillsAcreages.com

Recreational / Hunting Land Sales- My absolute favorite part of being a real estate agent is working with rural land sales and especially hunting land.  Recretional land is land that is suitable for your recreational choice.  Purchases of land for hunting is becoming more common in Iowa. Choosing a Realtor that understands how to evaluate wildlife habitat and help you understand your choices is important.  Put my education and experience to work in helping you evaluate your purchase of Iowa Hunting Land.

Southwest Iowa and the Loess Hills

Southwest Iowa is something special.  We have something that only exists one other place in the world.  We call them "the hills" or the Loess Hills of Western Iowa.  (pronounced luss hills) If you are not from the area you may think of Iowa as flat, boring and covered with corn fields.  You'll be surprised when you come visit us.  The Loess Hills are actually deposits of soil blown in from a large ancient sea.  With loess deposits up to 300 feet above the surface of the earth our land is broken up into many peaks and valley's.  With the hills covered with large open prairie areas and hardwood forests the area is very scenic.   A certain way of life exists in Iowa.  The state is very agricultural with many agricultural supports.  I would be remiss if I did not mention our excellent wildlife habitat in Western Iowa also.  If you are a hunter or photographer come check out Western Iowa.  Even with the rural nature of the area, we still have a large city Council Bluffs and Omaha right in the middle of all of it.  Here you get to enjoy the advantages of big and small.

Something very unique about Southwest Iowa is that fruit grows very well in Loess soil.  We have many orchards in the areas and grape growing for wine production is becoming very popular in Southwest Iowa.  Take a look at the Western Iowa Wine Trail website for information on vineyards and wineries in the area.  As these wineries dot our countryside so do apple orchards and other fruit dealers that sell everything from sweet corn, jams, pies, pumpkins and other garden produce.  Come spend a weekend on the Western Iowa Wine Trail and visit some of the places.  I assure you that once you do it, you'll make it a yearly trip.

Something else we have that is great is the Loess Hills State Forest.  The wonderful folks from many different conservation organizations along with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources saw the wisdom in preserving the Loess Hills for future generations.  That has resulted in the State of Iowa acquiring over 12,000 acres of Loess Hills land and turning it over to public usage for hunting, hiking, bird watching, nature photography, fishing, boating..... you name it and you can probably do it here.

Living in Southwest Iowa, whether you live in town or in the country is a great experience.  We have great schools, great people, and have been so blessed with beautiful land and great attractions.

Some of the larger populations centers in Southwest Iowa include from north to south Onawa, Missouri Valley, Council Bluffs, Glenwood, Red Oak, Shenandoah and Clarinda along with many smaller towns in between.
