Needle and thread in hand, Julianne Lesniak sits down to create a hand-sewn masterpiece. She thinks back to a defining moment from her childhood when, at the age of four, her grandmother sat her down on her knee and began teaching her the fine art of sewing. From her grandmother's teachings sprang a talent that she has called on all her life. Julianne has made wonderful works of art, clothing, even her sister's wedding gown. But the lessons Julianne gleaned from her grandmother extend far beyond sewing. For this local businesswoman, learning to sew-one stitch at a time-meant putting her heart into her work and to paying close attention to the details. These lessons have become common threads throughout Julianne's life.

As a competitive figure skater, Julianne worked tirelessly to perfect her abilities, fine-tuning every jump and spin in her performances to compete at the Regional, Sectional and National levels. Julianne's love of figure skating grew into a successful international coaching career that spanned more than two decades. Julianne taught young skaters the same lessons that have carried her to great success. Many of Julianne's students achieved their skating dreams by following Julianne's example of paying attention to the finest details. Though Julianne has hung up her skates, she stays quite active-bike riding, swimming and learning to play golf.
