The Omaha Chamber Announces Their Position...

Downtown Stadium

In support of the conclusions of the Stinson baseball stadium committee, the Chamber board of directors approved the following statement today.

The Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce supports the effort to keep the NCAA men's College World Series in Omaha for the long-term.

Our interest in this stems from the fact that each year, the CWS generates nearly $40 million in economic activity throughout the entire Omaha community. The importance of signing an unprecedented 20-year contract represents close to a $1 billion economic impact.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Omaha - no other city has been given this type of opportunity. Throughout the process, we have supported the work of the Stinson committee to determine location, funding and design of a community ballpark.

We support the committee's recommendations presented to the NCAA and will assist in generating community consensus to move forward.

This is about more than the baseball stadium. This is about two exciting economic development opportunities: one on the north side of the city and the other on the south side.

It is now time for Chamber members to rally around this once in a lifetime opportunity for our community. I encourage you to e-mail your city councilman and let him know that Omaha businesses agree that this proposal is what is best for the entire city.

I am including a list of city councilmen and their e-mail addresses. Make your position known as stadium-related issues come up for a vote.

It's a Great Time to Buy in Omaha!!

02-15-08
Authored by: NP Dodge Nebraska
Oh so true. First time homebuyers have many advantages in the current market. If they are not burdened with selling a home they can be aggressive in making offers on homes without contingencies. Interest rates are extremely low for those with great credit. Their collective power will be felt in our housing market for years to come as their historical purchasing power will be reflective in future real estate transactions. ~Mary Sindelar~ NPD Customer Care Advisor

Terrible Loss to NP Dodge Family

Authored by: NP Dodge Nebraska

December 6, 2007

Omaha, Nebraska - NP Dodge Company was very saddened to hear of the loss of one of their sales associates, Beverly Flynn, one of the victims of Wednesday's terrible tragedy at the Westroads Mall.

In a letter sent out to sales associates and employees, Sandy Dodge, President of NP Dodge Company, said, "For those of you who did not know her, Beverly was the kind of person and associate we all admire. She was a very conscientious, client oriented agent, who made a practice of planting a rose bush in the yard of each family with whom she worked. She showed her good sense of humor in a teasing sort of way and was very well liked by the clients she worked with as well as her fellow agents. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Beverly's family at this most difficult time. I wish I were able to give you some explanation for this senseless tragedy. But the definition of senseless means that it defies reason - so I can't. All we know is that a fine human being has been taken from us prematurely, and that she and the other victims will be greatly missed. For Beverly's family and friends, life will never be the same. Thank you in advance for your support of Beverly's family and for each other at this time".

Beverly joined the company in early 2006 and worked at the West Dodge and Lakeside offices. A fund has been set up in support of Beverly's family. Anyone wishing to make a donation, please feel free to make your contribution at any NP Dodge Company office location, as noted below. Checks should be made payable to Dodge Cares, with a notation on the memo line stating "Beverly Flynn Memorial Fund."

NP DODGE COMPANY AGAIN TEAMS UP WITH REBUILDING TOGETHER TO HELP HOMEOWNERS IN NEED

September 12, 2007

Omaha, Nebraska - Employees and Sales Associates Volunteer Time and Skills to Rehab Two Homes. Over 100 NP Dodge volunteers sporting white t-shirts joined together on Saturday, September 8th, to renovate two homes in north and south Omaha. Leading up to that date, many weeks of prep work were completed to bring these homes to where they are today. Not only did NP Dodge employees and sales associates donate their time to the project, but they along with several business partners, were also generous in providing household item and food donations for the needy homeowners.

One of the homes required extensive renovation and repair: including a new roof, central air installation, new flooring, new paint, a completely remodeled bathroom and second level reconstruction. Since the rehab was so extensive, the homeowner was moved into an NP Dodge apartment. Practically everything was replaced from top to bottom to create a better environment for the elderly homeowner. Click Here for a virtual tour of this home to see the transformations that occurred.

The work on the other home included an extensive bathroom remodel, installing new kitchen flooring, tearing out backyard concrete steps to build a new wooden deck, and general clean-up. By completing these modifications, the hard working volunteers were able to provide an elderly couple with a safer and more secure home. Click Here for a virtual tour of this home to see the transformations that occurred.

Sandy Dodge, President and Chairman of the Board of NP Dodge said, "Saturday was a banner day for our NP Dodge family of companies and for the two families whose homes received our annual "Extreme Makeover"--NP Dodge style. The grateful homeowners clearly recognized the extent of the hard work and generosity of our group of volunteers. I consider myself fortunate to have worked with them last Saturday in helping make these transformations become a reality".

Rebuilding Together Omaha is an affiliate of the national Rebuilding Together organization. The mission of Rebuilding Together is to keep low-income elderly and low-income disable homeowners warm, safe, dry and independent in their own homes. Nationally, Rebuilding Together has rehabilitated 93,000 houses since it was founded in 1988. An estimated 2.4 million people have volunteered, delivering market value work amounting to more than $204 million.
