Businessweek.com, with the help of Mountain View Altos Research, examined listing prices in 20 U.S. metropolitan locations, and then revealed the best and worst zip codes per area.

From July 2007 to July 2008, the average listing price dropped 30% in Fort Lauderdale, culminating at $276,661. The town of Jupiter, however, continues to flourish, with prices rising 24% from July 2007 to July 2008. This elevation in price is due in part to bargain hunters in Europe and Canada, who are taking advantage of the weak dollar, in addition to a larger group of homes selling for over $1.5 million.

This can be attributed to the fact that buyers in such a price range remain unaffected by the tight market conditions that have otherwise crippled those not so fortunate. Kris Heiser, vice-president of Mako Appraisal in Jupiter, reaffirms that Jupiter is one of the rare places that has not been "devastated" by market conditions.
