Be a part of the 2009 Arbor Day Tree Giveaway scheduled for March 7, 2009. During this time the City of Auburn Tree Commission's annual Arbor Day Celebration is scheduled to take place from 9 am. - noon at Kroger on Dean Road, Wal-Mart on South College Street, and the Corner Market on Martin Luther King Jr Drive/Highway 14. During this time, members of the Tree Commission will distribute Shumard Oak and Dogwood seedlings to citizens free of charge while supplies last at these locations. Planting instructions will be included with the seedlings.

The Auburn Tree Commission is a citizen group which advises the City on proper tree care and planting, and is committed to the growth and preservation of the urban tree canopy.

When what to my wondering eyes did appear...

A SNOWFALL is a rare occurance in this part of the south. Being a native northerner, it was like waking up to a surprise holiday with beautiful, snowy views of Auburn-Opelika. I headed out with my camera at 6:30 a.m. to take in the magic of A WINTER DAY in Auburn!

Below is a list of key elements of the plan outlined Wednesday by President Obama that aims to aid as many as 9 million households in fending off foreclosures: Allows 4 million–5 million homeowners to refinance via government-sponsored mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Establishes $75 billion fund to reduce homeowners' monthly payments. Develops uniform rules for loan modifications across the mortgage industry. Bolsters Fannie and Freddie by buying more of their shares. Allows Fannie and Freddie to hold $900 billion in mortgage-backed securities — a $50 billion increase.
