Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation Rodeo
Saddle up for the 14th Annual Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation Professional Rodeo in Foley, Alabama! The rodeo will take place August 4-6 at the Foley Horse Arena on Hwy. 59 across from the South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, sponsor of the rodeo. Voted as the 2009 and 2010 “Favorite Rodeo” by the Professional Cowboy Association, this is a fun-filled event for the whole family. The rodeo will feature over 350 professionals represented by 7 states.
This professional rodeo fundraiser is held each August to increase awareness and support for the Peer Helper and Peer Leader program. Partnered with the Baldwin County School System, the Peer Helper program is an accredited class that will be in 44 schools as of fall 2011. The class is designed to educate students on how to recognize when a friend or fellow classmate may have a problem and help in getting the best help possible. The Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation is a non-profit corporation with a mission “To provide today’s youth with the knowledge, resources and confidence needed to successfully navigate the pressures of day-to-day life on their journey from childhood to adulthood.” The foundation was established by Frances Holk Moore Jones after losing her daughter in 1998, in hopes that the Baldwin County Schools would be able to offer a support group to students that are in despair and in need of help.
Come out and have some family fun and support a wonderful foundation at the same time. An estimated 350 professional cowboys and cowgirls are expected to compete in front of over 8,000 spectators. There will be exciting events such as barrel racing, calf roping, steer wrestling, bull riding, bareback riding, team roping, and break away roping. Free horseback rides and other pre-rodeo activities for the children will begin at 7:00 each night with the competition to follow at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for children ages 4-12, and free for children under 3. Tickets are available at Summerdale Western Store, State Farm in Foley, and at the gate. Discounted tickets are available on-line at www.jennifermoorefoundation.com as well as a free child admittance coupon. See you there!
