Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant, Harvest Alabama, 35749

There's a new restaurant in town, Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant...very new...as a matter of fact it's so new that when we stopped in for lunch Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant was only 45 minutes old or should I say new. Mi Casa is located in Harvest Alabama in the Publix Super Market Center at 5850 HWY 53, their phone number is (256) 851-3527. Usually another new Mexican restaurant opening does not make the 9 o'clock news and we'll have to wait and see if if Mi Casa does because the restaurant hasn't been open long enough to make it to 9:00. However, when a new Mexican restaurant does open I think most of us tuck that bit of information away as a note for a future visit. I for one am really glad Mi Casa opened its doors because the owners Lency & Dan Guzman are the former owners of La Michoacana Tienda y Taqueria in Huntsville Alabama that recently closed its doors. La Michoacana was probably my favorite Mexican restaurant a little for the atmosphere a lot for the food.

Anyway, Mi Casa opened to a large crowd that continued to grow. Restaurants are like most business that first open in that there are always kinks that need to be worked out and coming from a family involved with restaurants since my grandfather came to this country I know this to be especially true in the restaurant world, but the Mi Casa owners and wait staff made everything right. The food was very good and the staff helpful and eager to please.

From left to right: yours truly, Amber (the office "everything girl"), Elizabeth (our fearless leader), Donna (can be a bit of a ham, but a great agent), and the gentleman on the right, Rob, actually works for NASA (Donna's husband). He monitors the structural health of the International Space Station...he's the guy who makes the Space Station turn its head and cough.

Lunch for me was a beef taco, beef enchilada, rice and beans. I was tempted to have a Margarita to wash down lunch, but when I snooped around the bar I didn't see any liquor. Sure enough the business is so new the bar hasn't been stocked yet, but I was assure it was being taken care of.

When it was time to leave Lency Guzman owner (right) was sure to say good-bye. If you're in the Harvest Alabama area be sure to stop in at Mi Casa for lunch or dinner...I think you'll like it.

Third Annual NARCA Area Aerotow Huntsville Alabama 9/30 to 10/3 2011

If you happen to be in the Huntsville Alabama area next weekend, this is an event you might want to check out.

Next weekend September 30 thru October 2, 2011, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. The North Alabama Radio Control Association (NARCA) is hosting its third annual areotow event in the Huntsville Alabama area. The event will be at NARCA's airfield, Epps field in Harvest Alabama at the corner of Carroll Road and Harvest Road.
