Living and working in the Madison and Huntsville Alabama area has it's perks and of them is being close to the Village of Providence. Back in September I did a post about a new restaurant that opened in the Village of Providence called the Providence Cafe. At that time the Providence Cafe had just opened and like any new business was in the middle of working the kinks out of the system and in this case also waiting on their liquor license. I'm happy to say that things are running smoothly and more importantly they now have their liquor license.

The menu below shows a tasty selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches as well as the caffeinated product that I'm very much tuned into. A note to the coffee drinkers: Providence Cafe sells Free Trade premium certified Organic coffee bought directly from the growers and is roasted locally in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Tennessee.

The wine racks are beginning to fill in nicely as well as an assortment of beer.

Now here's a bottle I had to show you. I haven't sampled a bottle yet, but will let you know when I do...kind of reminds of a bottle of Vodka I once saw named "Black Death"...hope they're not trying to tell us anything. Anyway "Dead Guy Ale" is made in Oregon and you can actually buy (online) brew kits to make your own.

Village Of Providence, Huntsville Alabama, Luxury Homes, 35806

The Village of Providence is one of the more unique, well known and prestigious areas in Madison and Huntsville Alabama. Located in a very convenient, in town, but out of the way location with professional offices, casual and upscale dining, the Village of Providence is a must see if you're new to the area or just starting your new home search and wanting affordable luxury. The Village of Providence is just north of University Drive shopping and restaurants and mere minutes from Bridge Street Town Centre, the Redstone Arsenal and Cummings Research Park.

There's always something going on in this great little community. Whether it's a night of Jazz at the Providence Cafe, car shows in the Green Space or 5K runs through the Village benefiting Make-A-Wish.

There's

always something to do including dining at some of Huntsville Alabama's best restaurants. Some of my past restaurant posts featuring the Village Of Providence have included: Grille 29, The Brickhouse Sports Cafe, Mellow Mushroom and Tony's Little Italy...all restaurants worth a visit.

This community is in the Providence Elementary, Middle and Columbia High School system. Below are a few examples of the available homes in the Village Of Providence.

There are currently 11 single family homes for sale in the Village of Providence priced from $294,900 to $809,000 offering 3 to 5 bedrooms and 2 to 5 baths and from 2,096 to 4,400 square feet of living space. There's also 1 townhome and one condo/loft available. Since the first of the year 11 homes have sold in the Village of Providence within 2.9% of list price and spending an average 190 days on the market. 1 condo/loft is currently contingent.

Sweet CeCe's, Frozen Yogurt and Treats, The Village Of Providence, Huntsville Alabama

I visited Sweet CeCe's Frozen Yogurt and Treats when it first opened here in the Village of Providence, Huntsville Alabama and to be honest I saw the potential for disaster. The idea is to build your own treat using the yogurt and sorbet dispensers and then add the fruit, candy, cookies or nuts topping it off. Great idea in theory, but it was a little hard to control the levers that dispensed the yogurt and sorbet and in the hands of kids it was simply a recipe for over flowing cups of stuff all over the floor. Add to that the fact that there appeared to be a pressure "regulation" issue in the machines...my first visit saw three kids covered in yogurt from highly pressurized, exploding yogurt/sorbet dispensers...it wasn't pretty, but it was funny and entertaining...actually I'd pay to go back and watch an unsuspecting and trusting child all excited about getting a treat then suddenly blasted with yogurt...warms my heart. I've been back a few times including today and admit that they seem to have all the kinks worked out and all is flowing smoothly...I'll have to go somewhere else in Huntsville Alabama for grins.

Anyway, every time that I have visited Sweet CeCe's the Yogurt or Sorbet's have always been very good and the fruit toppings always fresh. My favorite was something called Mystical Mango Sorbet topped off with lots of Blueberries, but their flavors are changed regularly and reappear at undisclosed times so it's kind of hit and miss when I'll get to have it again. Today I opted for one of Sweet CeCe's three constants...Original Tart and I added the blueberries of course...very good. Chocolate and Vanilla are always available.

Carrol Shelby's AC Cobra...still one of my all time favorites. It's nickname used to be the "neck breaker" back in the day because of its quickness off the line and coming out of each gear...the car would pin you to the back of the seat whipping your neck back...actually now that I think about it...that could be part of my problem.

Can you believe that Germany offered to sell VW to the USA way back when and the US didn't think it would go over well here in the states. At least we got it right with the mid '70's Chevy's.

I think we got it right with the Corvette's/Stingray's as well.

The Village Of Providence, Huntsville Alabama, Car Show, 2011, Part 1

Car 54 where are you???...well, obviously at the annual Village of Providence car show in Huntsville Alabama.

After just looking out of my office window it was clear the Village of Providence car show was well underway and that was my clue to walk across the street to snap a few photos. The ground construction/development you see at the top of the photos below is the site of a new Marriott hotel and shops.
