Logan Martin Dam In Alabama~Fishing and Boating Safety Tips
Logan Martin Lake in Alabama was created by the construction of Logan Martin Dam in 1964. The dam provides hydro-electric power to the central region of the state.

When you are boating and fishing around the dam, you need to take special safety precautions.
The power system of the dam responds automatically when the demand for electricity rises. When this happens the generator start up and generates a large amount of water through the powerhouse intakes and in seconds this water is sent downstream. I was fishing with my son on the rocks below the dam when the warning alarms went off and the generators started, it was hard to believe how rapidly the water rose to the area we were sitting. If I had been in a boat and it was anchored, I could see how it could cause the boat to sink.
If you are boating or fishing above the dam when the generators start, strong swirling water and underwater currents flow instantly at the intakes. Make sure you stay a safe distance from either side of the dam.

Some of the best fishing in the state is on Logan Martin Lake. Make sure your fishing trip here is a safe one.

Sellers Beware This Could Happen To You

I have sold property in the Logan Martin Lake area for 15 years. During this
time I have held open house hundreds of times without having any
problems with property theft. Sellers you must beware that something
like this could happen to you, if you leave out anything of value that
someone could pick up and slip into their pockets. I have been in many
homes on the lake that had money, jewelry and prescriptions sitting out in
plain view for anyone coming into your home to see. You need to be
proactive and secure or remove any items of value in your home when it is
listed for sale.

Fat Man's Bar-B-Que ~ Local Tradition For 40 Years Has A New Home
Located south of Pell City in Cropwell at 10179 Hwy 231 you will find, in my opinion, the best Bar-B-Que in the south. What a real treat it was to dine at Fat Man's Bar-B-Que the other night in their brand new restaurant built in the same location as the original one that burnt down 15 years ago.
Jon Davis, the third generation owner of Fat Man's, decided after taking over the restaurant in 2007, to build back the same style restaurant that his father lost in the fire. With some modifications on the outside from the original building, the new restaurant is open for business. The smaller building that they operated from the last 15 years could only seat approximately 20 to 25 people. The new restaurant can seat about 70 people on the inside and about 44 on the covered side porch. What fun it is going to be to be able to hang out and eat on the outside deck when the weather warms up.
If you are new in the area you will find that the food is delicious and it will keep you coming back for more. They offer pork, beef and chicken bar-b-ques, ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, catfish, plus much more. One of my favorites is the fried mushrooms. Their hours on Wednesday and Thursday are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dine in or call 205-525-5255 for carry out.
