I am a top Realtor in Northwest Arkansas and when these tornadoes hit in Joplin, which is so close to home, our community was extremely saddened by Joplin's loss. In fact, many in our Northwest Arkansas community went to help out our neighbors in need. I was so excited when I heard that Extreme Makeover Home Edition was going to help families re-build their homes and their lives. I watched the show last week and I have to say I had tears in my eyes. What an amazing show!

Here are pictures of the finished homes.

Fayetteville Farmers’ Market Rated #5 in U.S. for 2011

We all love farmers’ markets and Fayetteville’s Farmer's Market certainly is a most enjoyable place to shop for fresh fruits, vegetables, plants, cut flowers, baked goods, handmade crafts and much more.

The market is open each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday throughout the season on the Fayetteville Square. Saturday’s market in particular is usually bursting vendors, shoppers and entertainers alike. It is a wonderful way to spend some time buying locally grown fresh food for the family while supporting farmers at the same time. There are additional opportunities on Sunday morning at the Ozark Botanical Gardens and from 4-7 on Thursdays in the Mill District.

So I am pleased to let you know that people nationwide had an opportunity recently, through American Farmland Trust, to vote for their favorite farmers’ market in various size categories.

The Fayetteville Farmers’ Market came in #5 in the U.S. large (defined as more than 55 vendors) category. As if that were not enough, Fayetteville came in #1 in all of Arkansas.

It’s always nice to see to see recognition of the many wonderful things in our area that make our quality of life so enjoyable.

For more information about the farmer's market, check the Fayetteville Farmer's Market website and for more information about the contest, the American Farmland Trust website has complete results for all categories (sizes) of farmer's markets.

Boudreaux and Band-Aids

08-19-11

Boudreaux staggered home very late after another evening
with his drinking buddy, Thibodeaux. He took off his shoes to avoid waking his wife, Clotile. He tiptoed as quietly as he could toward the stairs leading to their upstairs bedroom, but misjudged the bottom step.

As he caught himself by grabbing the banister, his body swung around and he landed heavily on his rump. A whiskey bottle in each back pocket broke and made the landing especially painful. Managing not to yell, Boudreaux sprung up, pulled down his pants, and looked in the hall mirror to see that his butt cheeks were cut and bleeding. He managed to quietly find a
full box of Band-Aids and began putting Band-Aids best he could on each place he saw blood. He then hid the now almost empty box and shuffled and stumbled his way to bed.

In the morning, Boudreaux woke up with searing pain in both his head and butt and Clotile staring at him from across the room.

She said, "You were drunk again last night weren't you
Boudreaux?" Boudreaux said, "My chere, why you say such a mean ting?"

"Well," Clotile said, "it could be the open front door, it could be the broken glass at the bottom of the stairs, it could be the drops of blood trailing through the house, it could be your bloodshot eyes, but mostly, it's all those Band-Aids stuck on the downstairs mirror."=============

FRIDAY

FRIDAY
A Doctor was addressing a large audience in Tampa . 'The material we put into our stomachs is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago.. Red meat is awful. Soft drinks corrode your stomach lining. Chinese food is loaded
with MSG. High fat diets can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the long-term harm caused by the germs in our drinking water. However, there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all and we all have eaten, or will eat it. Can anyone here tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and suffering
for years after eating it?'

After several seconds of quiet, a 75-year-old man in the front row raised his hand, and softly said, 'Wedding Cake.'
