Regular readers will know that my husband is a golf lover. He played in another tournament this weekend and the highlight of the fun weekend was the dance held on Saturday night.
It was the 12th Annual Todd Alan Simpson Memorial Golf Tournament with proceeds going to endow scholarships annually to high school graduates.
Todd lost his life in a traffic accident and the family sponsors this tournament each year.
They brought the energetic band from Memphis, Dr. Zarr and the Amazing Funk Monster, this year. Their ad says this, "Grab your bell bottoms, climb aboard some platform shoes, and get ready to show off your best "Saturday Night Fever" moves -- when Dr. Zarr's Amazing Funk Monster is playing, there's no way you can resist the dance floor!"
This photo was taken before everyone crowded the dance floor and since my husband had played in 100 degree temp all afternoon, guess who had to go home before the crowd got merry?

I posted this blog a short month or so ago and it closed yesterday. A new person coming to town bought it for cash. He has to like old houses with charm! I also wrote a blog about the perfect offer that I couldn't believe was true. Good listings and good sales like this one make up for the frustrating ones that make us want to scream.
**************************************************************
It was my pleasure to receive a call from the owners of this house built in 1947 and loved and pampered by the same family for 63 years! The family added on a second bath and they moved the rock wall, built the bath and put the rock wall back. They added onto a bedroom and once again moved the rock and then put it back so that the house is rock all the way around. It does not look added-on.
They have put in replacement windows, security system, sprinkling system in the yard, added a detached one car garage with electric eye opener, privacy fenced the back yard and updated the plumbing and electricity. They hate to leave but health and children in another state beckon.
What is most fascinating is this combination of rock and brick trim. I understand that some rock-specialist worked this out way back then and did lots of houses in this area. Everywhere I look I see one of them. This one, however, is a special one. I've given you close-ups in the pictures below. Just in case you want to buy it, it's $84,900. It's located at 510 N. Charles in Searcy Arkansas.

The Governor of Arkansas is Mike Beebe from Searcy Arkansas. He used to be just a good old guy who worked as an attorney in Searcy and played golf with the fellows. He still plays golf with the fellows and is still a good guy but now lives in the Governor's mansion in Little Rock.
A few years back they were playing golf and a squirrel actually picked up his golf ball and hightailed it up a tree.....actually stole the ball and probably cost the governor a stroke or two. I suspect it was some relative of our mischievous Nutsy Wallendawho plays around on this blogsite and steals attention.
Our now Governor Beebe became our Attorney General prior to becoming Governor. The guys who were playing with him when his ball got confiscated surprised him by making a trip to the Attorney General's Office in Little Rock and presenting him with this momenta of that historic game. It was a fun occasion and he posed for this picture with the guys. The second from left is my husband.
I'm not sure where they got the squirrel for the plaque and just in case Nutsy reads this, I feel sure it is a play squirrel not one from the taxidermist.

Clients have been internet shopping and planning a trip to buy in Searcy Arkansas. I've emailed them what I think is the very best out there. They are here.....ready to buy.
"Okay, Barbara, we'd like to see the one you sent us on Jonathan Street. When I tried to pull it up on the MLS search, it didn't pull up."
Sorry but that one went under contract yesterday and that's why it won't pull up.
"Okay, what about the foreclosure that came back on the market and you think it's a good deal?"
Sorry but that one went under contract yesterday.
"Okay, we really like this one on Daniel Street. In fact, it looked better than any of the rest and has only been on the market 2 days."
Sorry but that one also went under contract yesterday.
That has been the story of our real-estate life lately. Things appear to be hopping here in Searcy Arkansas. Folks may want to take advantage of low interest rates or the tax credit or look while the days are light long enough to look.
But.....there is always two sides to a story. The other conversation went like this.
"Hello, Melissa. Remember that house you were wanting to see last month and they reported that it was under contract? Well, it is back on the market because the contract fell through. The buyers had financing problems. Are you still interested?"

The guys are all sitting around in the break room on a freezing day in January.
One guy is bragging about his motorcycle which is out in the parking lot.
The guys retort that if he is so crazy about that cycle, they double-dog dare him to ride around the parking lot buck-naked!
Being an all-American he-man he takes them up on that dare, sheds his clothes and jumps on the cycle for the spin!
OOPS! A cop just happens to be driving by and sees this cool (in more than one way) man riding the cycle and tries to pull him over.
PANIC! The cool cat tries to get away and drives off as fast as he can. The cop follows and finally gets him to pull over. I don't know how many men tried to cover "Ethel's" eyes and say, "Ethel, don't look. Here's the streak!" (I hope you've heard that song.)
We do know that the guy was chilled to the bone and had to be carried to the hospital and treated for exposure. He has recovered, but lost his job, his dignity and now is facing charges of reckless driving plus possibly indecent exposure.
This is not a joke. It is real. I don't know if the events happened just as I presented them above but it made the news in Searcy AR, my town. If he'd pulled over when the cop first motioned for him to do so, all would have been well. The fleeing was the big mistake.
Boys will be boys....... and I really feel sorry for him.
