Oops! My little vine-covered cottage of which I have dreamed. Never end a sentence with a preposition. Oops! Was that a sentence fragment? What I meant to say is this.
We have always heard of vine-covered cottages where love lives on and on. Now that I'm in real estate, I have learned that vines growing on houses is bad for the house. One needs to go outside and jerk those crawling, clinging suckers down as soon as they touch the house.
So when I saw this one today I knew I needed to take a picture. It is a perfect example of a vine-covered cottage.
If any of you sleuths have free time take a walk around Searcy with Mr. Google and see if you can find it.

Searcy Arkansas has a new subdivision and the new subdivision has a fashionable new entry sign. The subdivision enters from Country Club Road. Country Club Road once was just a country road with hills to climb to get to Searcy Country Club.
One of our friends and a horseman extreme moved to Country Club Road to get into the country and have room for his horses. That was about 40 years ago. This entry is right in front of his country home. Now all the folks who come out of this subdivision can eye the lovely horse or donkey that might be in his corral. How nice to be "grandfathered in" and be able to keep your favorite horse right in town.
His place was featured once before on this blog. Go see his rainbow by clicking here.

On June 28 2011, we got the picture of this house with a huge limb on it and in it. Here's the photo. And here's the blog.

Time rocked on. On Sept 22 we were having a meeting at the Searcy Board Of REALTORS office, which is across the street from this house, and the activity at the damaged house was distracting.
The attraction was the crew across the street preparing to down the tree.
Notice the lines on the tree and the BIG BIG saw that was soon to be used. The notch on the left side had not been enough to bring it down.
With that big saw working the watchers and helpers scattered.
The tree fell right where they wanted it to fall. I personally tried to measure how far I was from the tree just in case a mistake in calculation occurred. WOW! It made a loud thump and we all cheered!
And there's the reason for the damage to the house and the reason for taking a tree down. It had lots of decay inside. Those tree guys did a great job with a large audience of REALTORS watching.

This antique store has been located at 701 West Race for as many years as I can remember. Frances and A.D. Dale lived next door to the shop. The building had a second floor and they added two other buildings to hold their many antiques.
They were always gracious and made you feel good when you stopped by to visit. My house has a lot of furnishings from their store. I liked the way they refinished the furniture so that it looked like new "old" stuff. They were also willing to refinish the pieces you might buy somewhere else and bring by.
An auction was held on June 18 2011 in order to sell the entire inventory. It will not seem the same without all the old collectibles that decorated this rustic-in-appearance building. It closes because of health reasons. Frances died and it became harder for A. D. to keep it open by himself. Here is A. D. at the auction. He had to have a heavy heart as he saw all of his work going out the doors.
But if he sees this blog, by any chance, perhaps he'll realize how much he and Frances have been loved by Searcy people, how we loved his store, and how they will not be forgotten.

REOs are challenging.
REOs make you walk through them timidly.
REOs make you spray your legs with insect repellent before entering.
But I never thought an REO would have one of these in the middle of a nice subdivision.
Here's what showed from the corner of the yard.
It was a big yard but I needed to see what it was. When I opened the door, I was surprised to find this.
I still don't know what the round thing on the outside is.
