Pirates of the Carribean, no the Atlantic!!
I love to collect coins, so when I saw that there was a $500 million worth of gold and silver coins found from a shipwreck around the 17th century, it caught my eye!
Wouldn't it be a great conversation piece to have one of more than 500,000 coin pieces that are expected to fetch an average of $1,000 each from collectors and investors. This find could be the richest shipwreck treasure in history, bringing home 17 tons of 400-year-old silver and gold coins worth an estimated $500 million from an undisclosed site in the Atlantic Ocean.
Odyssy's 13 year history of salvage shipwreck vessels has their biggest find and court records indicate that the coins might have come from a 400-year-old ship found off England.
Because the shipwreck was found in an area where many colonial-era vessels went down, there is still some uncertainty about its nationality, size and age. Odyssey would not say whether the coins were taken from the same wreck site near the English Channel that Odyssey recently received a federal court's permission to salvage.
Still, Odyssey may have found the remains of a 17th-century merchant vessel that sank with valuable cargo aboard, about 40 miles, or 65 kilometers, off the southwestern tip of England.
Are you a coin collector too?! Wouldn't you like to see and possible own one of these pieces of history! I'm in awe of the size of this find and hope to learn more about how to view and possibly purchase one of these coins!
