CalTrans Highway 24 Work Has Begun

The Long Need Highway 24 Rehab Has Begun.

Caltrans has bengu their $41.5 Million dollar Rehab project.  There will be plenty of Detours and Ramp Closed throughout this project which is expected to be complete by 2009.  This will be a noisy project.  Both Orinda and Lafayette residents near the freeway will be the most affected by this project.  Caltrans concrete grinding, heavy equipment work, etc will keep a lot of folks awake at night.  The noise is suppose to be localized to 1 mile of the freeway.  Most work will be from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.  To find out more information:

After this project is completed, CalTrans is scheduled to start the 4th bore for the Caldecott tunnel.
