Bigger is better?  More horsepower in cars.  Bigger boats for the lake.  SUV over wagon.  Biggie sized.  Super sized.  Etc.  Face it, people in this country prefer larger in many cases.  And homes, apparently, aren't any different.

This article recently came out on msnbc.com.  It suggests that 'Mcmansions' are being built in suburbs all over the country.  Now, this hadn't gone unnoticed to me!  But I did find some interesting bits of information in this article.  in 2005, 1/4 houses had at least 4 bedrooms.  In 1990, it was 1/6 homes.  Average persons per household fell to about 2.6 people whereas square footage has grown by about 400 to 2434.

What else makes these homes bigger?  How about

• his/her offices
• media rooms
• dens
• more bathrooms

McMansion. Funny - but true?  I suppose the word 'downsize' will soon be blasphemous!
