I'm a transplanted Indianapolis native, now living in Northwest Indiana. As a home builder I get to travel a fair bit too though. Have you ever attended the Indy 500? If not, you have missed the Greatest Spectacle in Racing as they call it.

I love racing - all kinds - I actually raced sprint cars and believe it or not fire trucks in my earlier days
On a trip to MI to visit family we stopped of in Indianapolis. It was the summer I turned 12 and I remember going to a museum and getting to ride around the track. I am not a race fan but I do remember that stop on the trip as being pretty cool.

I got to watch it on TV as usual. Then had to watch the Coca-Cola 600. I like to go to Indy for the BIG GO otherwise know as the NHRA U.S. Nationals! I enjoy watchin drag racing! I am interested on how the National events will change once the NHRA selling the Pro division.

Well, growing up in Speedway, IN definately gave me plenty of opportunities to go to the races, as well as take part in all the festivities that the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing" has to offer. While I do enjoy the race itself quite thoroughly, my favorite times are the lead-up to the race. I enjoy the family days at the track, pole day, carb day (this can be a great party), the 500 parade and of course the public driver meetings.
However, do not forget that Indy also has 2 other great races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as well as other great racing events at the O'Reilly Raceway Park.

Good point I have been on a tour bus at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I have attended the NHRA US Nationals at O'Reilly Raceway Park in 2005 and 2006. That is a good time! Nothing more intense than the Nitro Funny Cars and the Top Fuel cars racing down the track!
