Tampa Bay has lots of baseball - we have several teams that do their spring training here, we have our own Professional team - the Devil Rays but my favorite is "baseball with a bite" - The Threshers - our local team affilated with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Now I have to provide a disclaimer up front - I am not your typical baseball fan. I don't have a favorite team and don't know any of the standings - but I love fun and there's nothing better than good wholesome family fun to me.
So I feel lucky to live within 10 minutes of Bright House Field in Clearwater, Florida. This is the home of the Threshers and any game is a good time - check out their schedule!
At the Bullpen Grille they serve your typical baseball food - hotdogs, popcorn, peanuts and more;

They have a playground that helps the kids wear themselves out so they can relax;
They have Frenchy's Bar that helps the adults unwind and relax;
They have special fun things for the kids as well; They even have the Lil' Anglers Club which is for kids 13 and under - for $15 each year they get a shirt and free admission, food and fun to the Tuesday home games.
They have some of the best fireworks most Saturday nights and on special occasions.

They have all this starting at just $3.00 a ticket - now family fun on a budget doesn't come much cheaper than this!
Sunday's are known for their Family Fun Days - 4 people with tickets, food and fun for $25 or 2 people for $15. Check out the different promotions and upcoming fun days.
If you're looking for something to do this summer in the Tampa Bay area - check out the Thresher's schedule and catch a game. I guarantee it's "baseball with a bite" that ends with a bang....

Cyndee ~ talking about baseball makes my mouth water for a hot dog. Is that a Pavlovian response? :)
kk
KK - I think so - but its all good! Thanks for stopping by!
Cyndee, cool fire work show. $3 a ticket, now that's a deal. You got to read the blog I just posted.LOL
Cyndee,
Looks like a great way to have fun for not a lot of dough. You have me about ready to move to Clearwater and I hate moving!
Rita
I spent a lot of time at Dodger Stadium as a kid - and love baseball - it has been years since I have been to a game though - the best place to have a hot dog is at a ball game :o)
Mana - I read it and rolled on the floor - love life with kids! I know we have so much family fun on a budget - thank goodness with current gas prices.
Cyndee - I'm like you, I love a good night of fun, don't know the stats, but who cares, I had fun.
Rita - anytime you want to move I know a great realtor to help you find a house to make your home (LOL) - just kidding, but you may get a chance to visit sometime and I'm a good host just ask Flat Mark!
Seriously - thanks for taking time to let me share my hometown with you! (Notice "h1s" in action now?)
Thesa - we get so many opportunies here with all the Professional teams that have spring training here - it's great for the kids too. I've got some great Devil Ray shots with the "cowbell video" LOL coming in the future.
Paula - I knew we had a lot in common :-) - I also like going places that are kid friendly - since I've usually got 2 with me! Got summer fun on a budget in Indianapolis?
$3 a ticket. That sounds like a great family event. It costs a fortune to take the family to almost any event these days.
Randy - I know - the Devil Rays pro baseball begins at $17 up to @$50 and the Tampa Bay Bucs are so expensive and The Lightning professional hockey is vey pricey too. If you're not a die-hard it's hard to justify the big expenses. It is a great family event - I saw where you're involved in Eagle Scouts - we have 2 cub scouts here and 1 about to become a boyscout with his eye on being an eagle scout some day. :-)
Hi Cyndee,
What a great post. Your photos are wonderful, it almost makes you feel the experience. And $3 bucks a ticket, yikes we could take all the kids in the neighborhood, right?
That looks like an incredible place Cyndee!! My kids LOVE BASEBALL we haven't been there before. I bet you get alot of activity to see the Threshers Baseball Team in Clearwater, FL!! What great info!!
minor league baseball is always a great and affordable time.
there was a foodtv special on minor league parks. they showed the foods and the customs of what people brought with them...
I remember having fun at minor league baseball parks.
one of these days, I'll try to get to a Marlins game and compare it to a game at Roger Dean Stadium for minor league
Lynda- glad you enjoyed it - did you check out the fireworks :-) Thanks for stopping by :-)
Susie - we should take them -they have all kinds of theme nights like bring your pet, wild and wet, etc. It's fun, fun, fun!
David - you have such a wealth of experiences my friend - always love your input whether it's knowing mortgages or knowing Florida - you're the man!
Cyndee, what a great family fun idea! It just goes to show how many family fun options we have in Tampa Bay!!
Leah, You're so right - we have so many great things to do at little or no cost!
We have a local Single A team here also, The Lake Elsinore Storm. We love going to their games. It's like a high school game that collided with a circus. Great fun!
Tom - ouch I think you hurt their feelings :-) It is great fun and we're lucky to have them. Thanks for visiting and taking time to comment. Hope to see you back soon.
Minor league baseball is definitely fun. It is usually outdoors and the owners often have very creative promotions. Having said that, this baseball diehard loves watching the really good guys play. The level of consistency required to make it to the bigs is mind boggling. Your Devil Rays really should get an outdoor stadium though. We in the northwest suffered with indoor baseball for many years befor getting what is, arguably, the best outdoor stadium in existence. Baseball is just weird indoors!
David - Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - I agree it feels weird under a dome - I love the Threshers outdoor field. Thanks for taking time to weigh in - I'm not usually such a bad hostess :-) Hope to see you back again soon.
Oh man Cyndee, even though we are not to envy another, I so do you living in Florida which I term "Baseball Heaven" If I lived there I don't think that I would get much work done. Nice post. Got your link thru a post of Karen George.
Ha this is the 2nd time today my graphic to type is "paterno"
