Dianne, I don't know of any Zoo's here in Connecticut, but the Bronx Zoo is only a couple of hours a way, and that is a great Zoo. I wish we had one closer though, because it is a great way to spend the day.
Great Pictures, It has been years since I have been to a zoo.... I think it's time I go again. :) great post!
George: I am glad that our zoo is close by...we were just there with our grandson the other day. I love it
House Txtr: Yes, it is time to go again. We had so much fun!!! Thanks for stopping by
Hi Dianne - I included this post in this week's Localism Week in Review. Very nicely done!
Ann
The Zoo is one of the funnest places to take the kids. Even a breather. The sounds of the birds and watching the animals there, looking so relaxed and playful at times, is great.
Dianne,
Hi. Your zoo looks really cool. We are animal lovers and I have always taken my children to zoos and aquariums wherever we visited.
One of our favorites is called Popcorn Zoo, it is located in Lacey Township, New Jersey.
It is actually the local ASPCA. Through the years they have built up a collection of animals that they have taken away from the owners or that are disabled. They have an elephant with a damaged trunk, bears that a circus owner left in a closed up, unventilated truck. They have tigers, monkeys etc, etc.
It is not a fancy place, but every animal has a story. Some of the stories are heartbreaking. One of the most horrible is of a monkey that was scalded by vandals. It is now quite visibly scarred.
Hi Steve, I have never been to that zoo. It sounds like a great place to take the children. Thanks for stopping by
Ann: Thank you so much.
Luisa: Thank you for stopping by.
The Gorilla looks like he's posing for the picture. <g>
Hi Diane, great photos! I'm not a big captive wild animal fan unless the animal can no fend for itself in the wild. I was so pleased to read that your zoo has animals roaming free on so much acreage! Very Kewl!
Lysa: Hi, thanks for stopping by. Yes, I like to see them roaming also
Chrystina: Yea and I was riding on the safari train taking this pic. Isn't he cute?
Austin doesn't have a Zoo per say. But there are major zoo's in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. Best zoo I've ever been to though is the Gladys Porter zoon in Brownsvill Texas..alll the way on the southern most tip of Texas. I would place it up there with the San Diego zoo. Great pic you posted of the Gorilla in the tree!
Danny: Thanks for stopping by. I loved the picture of the Gorilla also!
Diane,
Good piece for localism...not sure if you posted it there.
Hi Neal, thank you! Yes, I posted it on localism. We had a good time that day!
I am going to be posting some of my visit to AZ...but only a few of the animals because it was too hot for them to be outside.
