Today's Picnic includes family fun rides and games, food booths, logger jamboree, equestrian events, talent show, and entertainment. A Friday night dance opens the festivities, preceded by a Kiddie Parade during the day.

At early picnics, families from all over Linn County came by buggy, horse, and wagon, pitched their tents in the park and settled in for three days of fun, worship, and fellowship. They entertained each other with recitations, plays and musical numbers. Picnic cloths were spread beneath the trees. Spirited Sunday sermons were also an important part of the annual celebration.

With the passing of time and the pioneers, the Picnic changed to include other entertainment and activities. the 4th of July, that dates back to the reunions held by the founding fathers of this cozy and eclectic town.

Downtown boasts of charming antique shops, the corner cafe and a unique pioneer museum.
