St Paul Rodeo - June 29th thru July 4th

One of the best things you can do this 4th of July Holiday in the greater Portland area is to experience a real western rodeo at the St Paul Rodeo. Complete with parade, rodeo clowns, cowgirls and cowboys, this is a blast!! Fireworks every evening. Carnival and concessions and the St Paul Catholic Church Chicken BBQ!!

Trust me, until you've stood on the sawdust and manure of a rodeo arena with several thousand others craning your head up to watch the fireworks, you haven't fully lived.

This has become one of our family traditions. We usually don't make it on the 4th, but we make sure we get there at least one day. It's located south of Portland, just west of Woodburn.

While it's fun watching the "big boys" on tv or at the Rose Garden, there is nothing like being in a small arena and seeing the action up close.

Taken from one of their Press Releases:  "The St. Paul Rodeo returns to Oregon for its 72nd year with new feature acts, more activities and fun the whole family. The rodeo runs July 1 through July 4 with five big performances and includes The Western Showcase and special feature motorcycle act, The Wild Child. Plus, don't miss the largest firework displays in the area. Also this year the St. Paul Rodeo Committee is bringing back the USSTC Pro Bull Riders Challenger Tour to the rodeo this June 30. The St. Paul Rodeo has long been considered one of the top Fourth of July rodeos in the country. Each year more than 50,000 rodeo lovin' fans make their way to the small town of St Paul, Oregon (population 330). All the top rodeo athletes are slated to return to St. Paul to thrill the fans and compete. The intimate arena (which holds 10,000 people) allows up close and personal views of the best PRCA rodeo action in the west."
