Downtown Disney - Not Just For Tourists - Great Venue For Locals, Too!

Downtown Disney  is located in the center of the Disney California Resort adjacent to the original Disneyland and the more recent California Adventure.  It's a great  place to begin your adventure in the Magic Kingdom.  There are three hotels that are adjacent to Downtown Disney - The Original Disneyland Hotel, the opulent, mission-style Disney's Grand Californian and Paradise Pier Hotel.  There are three ways to get to the main gates of the two theme parks.  You can walk, ride the aerial tram, or take the ground trams.  All are great ways to begin, but I recommend either of the trams so you can save your  feet for walking the two theme parks.

There are lots of things to see and do during the day in Downtown Disney.  So, if you're taking a break from the theme parks you can grab a bite at one of the great eateries or shop the many unique shops for things that you just won't find everywhere.  There's no admission for Downtown Disney and it's an especially fun place to gather with friends after dark.  The streets are illuminated with thousands of lights in the trees.  There are street musicians to keep you entertained as you stroll the promenade.  There is a plethora of entertainment in many of the clubs including Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, The House of Blues, and ESPN Sports Bar.  There's also an AMC movie theatre so you can get in out of the sun and rest your feet for another spin through the two theme parks.  During the summer, you'll be able to not only get some great food, but also enjoy the fireworks display that is a nightly extravaganza that is simply not to be missed.

Downtown Disney has something for every age group and must be included in your agenda to get the full Disney experience.  These photos will give you a glimpse of what you have awaiting you in Downtown Disney - There's no admission fee.  So,  it's a great place to enjoy the fireworks and some great street musicians at night.  There are lots of happy people in these photos enjoying Downtown Disney located in the happiest place on earth!

I didn't even get to go to Disneyland until I was 21....One day I'm going back and will do this part...the shopping! The eating woohoo!

Sally-If you don't give me a call so we can play together I'll be verrrrrry disappointed.  This really is a great place to play!

Oh, you will be one I definitely call as I know you will me when you get here in Jan!

Sally - Woo Hoo!

I love Disneyland... bet you didn't know the BGHS Drill Team used to march in D-land parades  until  the school board deemed it too commercial

Kaye - Thanks for the BGHS fun factoid.  I love D-land, too.  I still have a ticket book with an e ticket!  Ahhh, takes us back to a different time.
