Our Favorite Hangout Is In Korona Florida At The White Eagle

On Sunday afternoons Steve and I like to get on our Shovel Head and go for a ride. We'll go to one of our favorite hangouts where we know there is good food, good people and cold drinks.

Our favorite is the White Eagle Lounge in Korona, about a 15 minute ride north on US 1 from where we live. We have a history there, Steve's is a lot longer then mine. (He has known the owners for years) Long story short it is where we met during Bike Week of 06. We'll still point out to each other where he was sitting when we were introduced.

This isn't your typical "biker bar". On any given weekend when you walk in you will find a table of men who just finished a round of golf at Plantation Bay. The gal that introduced me to Steve is the fiancée of the well loved, now retired County Attorney. You'll find regular blue collar workers there like our friend Bob the Tile Guy. Believe it or not there is even a "Cliff" there. Yep a postal worker, he also bartends during events or poker runs when there is a quick rush. At some point musicians will take the stage and people will start to dance.

Sherry's Kitchen is there and open every day. She has some great specials, probably the best deal on a steak anywhere in town and it is cooked just right. Her jumbo fish sandwich is HUGE and sooo good! You never walk away hungry or dissatisfied with Sherry's cooking.

The White Eagle Lounge hosts a real good Bike Week and Biketober Fest Party. There are exhibits and food vendors everywhere out back and live entertainment all day long.

Last Bike Week one of the owners took the advice of me and a couple other people and hired my friends Blackfoot for their headlining act. Blackfoot was a huge success, I still hear about it today, how nice and accommodating Blackfoot was and as long as Dave is around he would love to have them back for the events over and over. Every time Dave mentions the guys from Blackfoot he has a huge smile on his face.

For those of you who remember the late 70s, early 80s, Blackfoot had hits such as Train Train and Highway Song.

Last weekend we rode out to help Dave celebrate his 65th Birthday. He had live music outside, a free barbeque, and a great big cake. We had a great time, lots of laughs and the barbeque was yummy.

They have a lot of practice with the barbeque, The White Eagle has a free barbeque the last Sunday of every month.

If you go visit The White Eagle say hi for us or if you see us come say hi to us! It is located at the intersection of US 1 and Old Dixie Hwy in Korona, Flagler County, Florida.

Thank you Jason Price for my 2nd Place Win in the "My Family's Favorite Hang Out Is" Contest!

Now that is my kind of place!  BBQ = MMMMMMMMM.  Sounds like an awesome venue Lysa.

Lysa, this sounds like a great time!  One day, we will meet you there!  I love the little hometown feel of a bar, "where everybody knows your name"

Lysa, SOMEDAY ... !!!  I'd love to go get some BBQ with you and Steve!  This place looks like a lot of fun.

Bikers and BBQ's at a place called Korona!! it doesn't get any better than that!! :)

Lysa,

Cool...I think I saw Blackfoot opening for The Outllaws back in the 80's I beleive. Not sure I can remember that far back.

Jason, it's a neat place, we always have a nice time :) If ever you come visit we'll take ya there!

Kim, I really hope ya'll do come back! Would love to show you around (even if you have already been here). Come on down! It does have a hometown feel.

Sarah, You are on! We'll show ya'll some good times ;)

Nick, LOL The town is called Korona, and your right, it doesn't get any better then this!

Neal, I wouldn't doubt you saw my boys open for the Outlaws. I saw the Outlaws open for Charlie Daniels in the 80s. The original lead singer from Blackfoot, Ricky Medlock is now with Skynard, but the boys still rock as good as ever.

Girl...you have more sides than an octagon!! A Biker Chick eh....love it!

Joan, You didn't know that? TLW has nick named me The Florida Biker Chick :) Riding with Steve is the best thing in the world!

This guy I used to be friends with produced a Skynard concert. It was in Atlanta...I was invited and they had an after party with the band and we had back stage passes...but I could not make it at the last minute because I had to stay in NY for business at the time. It was when "they call me the breeze" was big.

Neal, Tell ya what I can't get ya backstage with Skynard, but I can introduce you to Blackfoot next time they are in town!

Lysa,

Sounds like a great place to hang! Thanks for sharing. :)

Looks like a great place. Thanks for passing this on to us all.

Suzanne, You're welcome, feel free to visit :)

Barbara, it sure is! Come on out!

Thanks for taking the time to look at us and comment. I think we must have seen something of yours and commented on that. We're new and am understanding this is how things work on AR. A lof of good and fun informagtion being shared... and a lot of polite and considerate people doing it.

Nice photos here. Looks like a good time. We're music folks too.

Cheers...

Gary, Yep! You came by and commented on my What's in your blog post so I thought I'd stop by and visit you. A very wise lady who commented on the same post I did taught me that.

HI THERE, I COULD RELAX HERE, I COULD, REALLY.  LOL

Bob, well maybe someday you and Cyndi can come down and do just that!

(07/18/07 08:15PM) — Cindy & James Nicholson

One of these, who knows when, probably never, but I would love to travel around with the bikes and meet tons of people and come see you girlfriend! A motorhome, or trailor to carry the bikes, have to think of the dog you know, because James will not buy a side car for the dog...

Cindy, folks bring pups there all the time, there is a backyard patio :) Come On Down!!

Hi Lysa - what a really FUN place this sounds like, and it sounds like everyone is nice and friendly. I like going places where I'm known and have 'history' like you mentioned. Love all the pictures you included here as well as the story you wrote - makes me want to pop on down there for a few cold beers and some yummy food!

CONGRATULATIONS on your win in the "favorite family hangout" contest!!
Ann

Lysa~

What come through to me as I read your post is the style and energy of this place and the folks who frequent it...I feel as I could come on in and be with friendly people and enjoy the music..now I am just wondering...do they happen to have a vegetable platter ? ..possibly called the

Ann, Thank you so much! What a nice surprise huh? Come on down anytime! The beer is always cold and the food is always good!

janeAnne, LOL! No they sure don't, but yes, you could come in and have a great time!

I'm back a month later..to comment again..congrats!

Thanks Neal :)

Lysa... congrats on Second....   looks like fun. I have been to bike week in Daytona back in the late 80's.  But what sounds like fun is the mix of people there because you stated it's not your typical bar. These are my favorite types of places....  different groups of people... again, congrats.

Congrats on your win Lysa...that contest got by me!

Is there a clearing house for contests on here that i don't know about so we can find them?

Lysa,

Congratulations you deserve it! :)

Sounds like it's one of the locals best kept secrets.

I really would love that.  We did ride tonight, first time since the accident.  The arm works ok on the bike, I love it.

Lysa, I remember when you posted this!  You know I enjoy this, especially ridin up on the Harley and enjoying the music and good food.  As I said before, some day I hope to join you there!  CONGRATS!

Lysa,

Congratulations on 2nd place!!!  The White Eagle sounds like a great place!!  No biker bar in PS but we have Biker Weekend here in October.

This is interesting. Thanks for sharing the information.

Hi Jeff, Thank you & Congrats to you on 1st! It is a fun place, :)

Hi Joan! Thank you! Sometimes the person that starts groups that you belong to will start a contest and send out a email about it. Sarah Cooper turned me on to this one. I never dreamed I'd make the top 3!

Suzanne, Thank you, I loved yours, your favorite hangout was so relaxing even to just read about. One day I need to get there.

Diane, LOL! It's not a secret at all! Bikers have been coming here for years for the events. They all know each other, but only see each other during the events here and up north (SD, NH). It's really neat. Some places are really dead when there aren't events but the Eagle is always hopping.

Bob, Good For You! I'm so glad you're riding again! I bet that felt so good! Maybe one day ya'll will be able to come on down!

Kim, I sure hope ya'll can make it down! Really would enjoy meeting you!

Lysa...

I don't think I have ever been there but it sure looks familar :)

Great ... Good reading post :)

Ring...Ring...TLW calling :)

TLW...ROAR!

Thanks TLW! Maybe you and BB can come up some time and we'll have lunch and dinner! :)

You go girl!  Like should be lived and you are living it!

Hi Harold! Back At Ya on the Congrats! No biker hangouts in Palm Springs?? Wow! Guess you'll have to come out here some time!

Hi Bob and Carolin, Thanks for stopping by.

Hi George! Amen to that! Thanks! Come on down and live with us at any time!

Looks like the "birthday boy" had a lot fun that day. Great post, Lysa.

LOL Anna, you have NO IDEA!! He loves his birthday parties!!

Those photos look like so much fun - I recently found a similar place here in The Grove where bikers hang out but it's speed bikes.....interesting group of people and beautiful bikes!

you know that commercial from a few years back, 'how many licks to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop?'

well, how many beers to make Korona look like Corona??   well, let's see. beer #1, sip it quietly while looking around and giving nods to the scary looking dudes. beer #2, scoping around to see which are the best looking single ladies, beer#3, chug it and start 'yooo hoooo'ing and 'whooo hoooo'ing.  so yeah 3 beers and Korona turns into Corona. yeah baby!!   now where is the little boys room? ;^)

Ines, This is a bit different then the place you are describing but sounds like just as much fun. Sometimes we get scolded if we don't go out there often enough!

Nick! You are too funny! The boys room is on the other side of the pool table! It only takes you 3 beers to Whooo hoooo?? hmmmmm... LOL!!!

Hi Lysa, yep, i'm lighter than most and i rarely drink anymore, so three and i'm yoo-hooo'ing. the whoo-hooo part comes closer to falling over and being done :)    i'm a good kid, so no drinking for me,.. often.  but Corona's are tastey.. or Korona.. how ever you want to spell it ;)    beers only allow on the beach, where to sand and water can break my fall! haha... the water cools me off too :)  laterrrrrr gatorrrrrrrs

Nick, awe this is why I didn't see you with Beer In Hand in Orlando! Corona's aren't bad if there are no Mich Ultra's to be had! I see TLW, Ines and I will have to see you at the beach sometime, Corona in hand, that will make for a great video!

(05/12/08 07:04PM) — Sherri Dodsworth PA

Reminds me of a lot of great memories (many hazy) from a similar sounding hangout I used to frequent when I was stationed in Pensaola, the world famous Florabama Bar on the Florida-Alabama line on Perdido Key. All walks of life and way too much fun. Bikers and pilots, lawyers and low-lifes - everybody was your buddy at the 'Bama.  Thanks for sharing.

Sherri, Thanks for stopping by! Actually one of the owners of the White Eagle is a pilot, Dave has since retired since I've written this and I have yet to meet the new partner. I need to get back over and see what's going on there! Your place sounds like fun too!
