Omphaloskepsis
Is there a rhyme or reason to those words? Increasing the vocabularies of the real estate industry through CAPTCHA? Remember when you only had to know how to spell ORANGE, CANTALOUPE, POMEGRANATE and the like? "Omphaloskepsis: is the name of Tina, a Columbus blogger's second blog, her personal blog. Omphaloskepsis is subtitled "It's all about me." I know Tina the Columbus blogger from her Green Buckeye Blog, which is not all about Tina. Do you look up words you encounter that you don't understand? I often do but have not with those new words that ActiveRain has introduced to verify that we are human. I was impressed that Rob Robinson while confused about Philadelphia.... and the Blog Tour looked up at least one of the new ActiveRain words used to verify that we are humans not bots. And Rob used at least one of the new verification words in a sentence, the word "RATA."
Rata \Ra"ta\, n. [Maori.] (Bot.) A New Zealand forest tree (Metrosideros robusta), also, its hard dark red wood, used by the Maoris for paddles and war clubs."
"Can you use Omphaloskepsis in a sentence?" Heck I will give it a try:
Chris Elizabeth Griffith introduced a "Good News Plague" meme last December. It was a Localism meme. It's a meme about places. A bunch of us did 5 Good Things about ___________ (your city.) It's viral. The New Members Meme's I tried to do until an ActiveRain member started using them to attack new members was self focused too, new members need that... The self focus not harassment from some sicko on ActiveRain who wants ActiveRain all to himself... what kind of a social network is that? Tina of Omphaloskepsis introduced me to the Media Consumption Meme... Media Consumption is an "all about me" meme too... Carole brought the Media Consumption meme here to ActiveRain! That's part of the fun of a meme, it's not all about me, it's about how Tina in Columbus is connected to Linda Davis in CT via Carole in Cleveland (members only entry on ActiveRain) through Bonnie Erickson in St. Paul and my media meme on my other blog. Linda Davis did a link to Daily Meme a blog with some definitions about memes. Even with out a formal social network like ActiveRain where you have a member name and a password there is a social network through your blog. Or can be unless you choose to shun the world and just blog out into the cosmos. Yesterday in Columbus' Doo Dah Parade I saw more omphalos than you can shake a stick at ...ooops I ought to say 'I saw more omphalos than you can shake a "rata" at....' This fella's omphalos was displayed for all the world to see as he twirled a broom in the Doo Dah Parade. Omphalos is a Greek word. The Merriam Webster definition of Omphaloskepsis if you have not figured it out. The English word for omphalos. ActiveRain has a Meme Group. I think pretty much being an ActiveRain member requires a belly button, those Greek's who heavily spammed ActiveRain a week or so ago did not make the grade, no omphalos. Photo credits: Orange - think Navel Orange... I have no idea if it is a navel orange. The photo is from Wikipedia Naveli s also from Wikipedia. The omphalos (navel) photo above is from Wikipedia also it was released to the public by the photographer. " I am the author of this work and release all copyrights. The photo of the fella at the Doo Dah parade is my picture... mine, mine all mine. Actually it is Mark's photo, but Mark is mine.
