Arizona Activerainers should come to Prescott this summer to cool down (hey, it's only 103 here!) and experience old time radio with the Citrus Valley Playhouse. I ran into show creator, writer and host Brian Nissen at my Realty 2000 Prescott Main Branch Office aka Cupper's Coffee House:
His latest creation is this funny, good natured radio show that somehow illustrates what the Andy Griffith Show would have been like if famed Maricopa County Ssheriff Joe Arpaio would have been running Mayberry, North Carolina. I can't wait to see that.
The show is playing at Prescott's Elks Opera House at 117 E. Gurley St. in Prescott, AZ. It runs every Friday from June 22 to July 27 at 7:30 PM.
Great way to get run over on Gurley Street taking the photo above.
We got to talking about blogging (hey, why not doesn't everyone?) and I mentioned I met fellow AZ Activerainer Yvonne Root through blogging. Brian had met her too at another local function (way to network, Yvonne).
Sounds like the show will be a great time. Pink boxer shorts? A symbol of punishment and entertainment at the same time!

Scott, These photos are wonderful. I can see what you mean about taking your life into your own hands trying to get the Elks Opera House shot. What were you thinking? Great photo anyway. I'm so glad you were able to meet Brian. Isn't he wonderfully easy to talk with? I'm also glad he has brought his fabulous talent into our neck of the woods. I think you and he share the office space at Cupper's. :) This is a fantastic post. It is nice to know that we have great talent here in Northern Arizona -- both Brian's and your's. Thanks for the mention!
Scott:
Lucky you! You get to hang out with Yvonne Root! In case you didn't know, Yvonne is a very talented Professional Stager who really understands how to make a home appeal to the greatest number of potential buyers to help it sell faster and for more money. Besides that, she is a very funny woman and wonderful and generous person.
So you know the famous Yvonne Root - do you think the Opera House could use some of her fabulous decorating techniques?
Scott, I think Prescott would be a hoot to live in, to enjoy the Citrus Valley Playhouse and to meet you 3 characters
Thanks for sharing this with us! Is Prescott like Mayberry? If so which character portrays you? Portrays Yvonne? Do tell the deep dark secrets of Mayberry. haha
Thanks for the entertainment, Leslie
Yvonne, Brian was blown away that I met you blogging. Great guy! Are you going to the show? We are going 7/20 at 7:30 PM, care to join us?
Michelle, We are going to work together on a townhouse listing in August. It will be awesome.
Kathleen, Indeed! All interiors will benefit from the power of "rooms b.y. root".
Leslie, Just call me Opie Taylor, please. You'll need to ask Yvonne her character. When I earned my Arizona Real Estate license, one of my former business partners had this cake made for me with a decoration of the first escrow check of $1M. Wow, just like the real Ron Howard. =)
Yes Scott we want to go too! I just looked at the ticket sales site and it looks as if the seats are assigned. I'll call you.
Michelle, you make me blush. Keep it coming though. You are great, thanks!
Kathleen, You are a character. Of course the Opera House could use our services; can't everyone?
Well Leslie, as you see, Scott is our very own Opie and that, of course leaves me being his Aunt Bea. For you, my dear, that is pronounced Aint Bea. Correct?
Opie Taylor, That cake is cool. Congratulations on the Million mark!
Anything you say Aint Bea. Are you making some of those pickles for the fair?
Hooking up via AR...How cool is that?! Sounds like you guys are having way too much fun out there. I may have to come out and see for myself. 102 degrees, huh. And I thought DC was hot. Brian, I am a friend of the famous Yvonne Root of rooms b.y. root. You've done right well hooking up with her! She's a fantastic professional home stager. We will need to see pictures of this townhouse project y'all are fixing to do, 'ya hear.
Scott, I've ordered the tickets. Brian's wife called me and explained it is not assigned seating. So, everything is A-OK. Call me and we will make arrangements for meeting. I think this is going to be a blast!
Pat, You've seen some of the photos which Scott has taken of other things (even in this blog) so you can bet he will have good photos of what ever comes along. And yes, just one more reason to be thankful to AR. Thanks for your kind words my friend.
Brian, Thanks so much for your greeting! Isn't Scott cool? The show will be too much fun. All the ad cards we brought out this way are gone. We even gave away the one we intended to keep for ourselves. Will we get autographs at the show? Tell your brother to watch out -- we are on our way!
Brian, Likewise, and congratulations on being a first mover in Old Time Radio Playhouse (how is that for niche keywording) in the Prescott area, you should blog about it, break a leg tonight.
Here are some fatured typepad dot com arts and entertainment blogs.
Yvonne, I will stand by for the meeting call or email. Lynn works next door Yavapai County Big Brothers Big Sisters, so we could meet at the Elks.
Leslie, We will send you homemade pickles if you post a photo of Mayberry, isn't it near Asheville?
Patricia, Townhouse staging will be featured all over web: AR, REW blogs, craigslist, Realtor.com, not to mention prescottscott dot com the Prescott AZ Real Estate tool or choice.
