Kansas City host 14th Annual Water Garden Tours
Kansas City has been on a campaign to create water and rain gardens throughout the Kansas City area over the past three of four years and it has been successful in it's approach. This weekend is the annual event in Kansas City for hosting these amazing water and rain garden. The tour begins this Saturday and ends Sunday with starting and ending times on both days from 9 am to 5 pm.
This is one of the biggest events of the year here in Kansas City and will host more than 50 residential and rain gardens. The cost is $10/person and are available at all the Hen House stores. Purchases include a tour book with maps, directions to all the gardens and garden descriptions provided by the hosts.
Proceeds from the tour are used for education, building ponds and supporting teachers at area schools and non-profit agencies.
You can gain some tips from the web site at http://kcwatergardens.com/tips.html. Check it out and see how to take care of mosquitos.
I hope to get the opportunity to get some more pictures to share with you.

Oh David, what wonderful local information. I only wish I was a bit closer to KC---SoCal is a bit of a hike to come for this...oh, but I sure wish I could!
Marlene, don't they look so inviting!! Hope to see several before they close the event. If I'm allowed I will take some pictures. Thanks for reading this!
Great post David, love the photos, is there one for getting rid of yellow jackets? Spent the day at a friends BBQ yesterday, and there were yellow jackets everywhere but we can't get close enough to discover the nest! Thankfully no one got stung in the process!!
David, I LOVE your photos! A water and rain garden would be wonderful right now here in our sunny and WARM climate. Beautiful and very nice post. Thanks for sharing.
Brad, yellow jackets, hmmm... did you ask the servicing company for the BBQ if they could trade in the yellow jackets for white one!? Servers should be wearing white! :-) Actually, there is a bee and flying insect spray the works very well for getting rid of those pests. My dad was cutting grass on his tractor and ran into a humble bee nest, got stung over 100 times from it! Not good! Glad no one was hurt.
Teri, thank you for reading and commenting! We will be doing something like this in our next home, we have too many gardens at our current home. Looking for the next one now!
