Let it Rain!

It is July in Cochise county! Woohoo! I love this tme of year here. My home is pretty much in the wilderness. It sits nestled in the base of the mountains. I can see lots of Sulper Springs valley and well into Mexico and the Sierra Madre mountains....this is to set the scene....the mountains are grand and the valley is big.

On July 4th our monsoon rains started. It was wonderful. June here is the hottest time of year and this year we broke records with temps around 105F. Everyone was looking to the sky for clouds and the promise of rain. It gets so intense it feels like our community just wills it to rain. :)

The storms have been roaming around every day since. Not every area gets rain everyday but my place has gotten rain all but one day since the 4th. The days still get hot, but just when you think it is going to be too hot, it rains. The highs here have settled back down to the low to mid 90's. The evening cools off nicely.

Our arid desert terrain has started to turn green. By August the Mountains will be cloaked in a velvet green. The grasses will shimmer and wildflowers accent it all. Many visitors come to this area during the winter which is mild compared to lots of cold places. They have never seen July and August, my favorite time.

The crazyest looking bugs live here now and the desert is loud from bugs and birds. I've also seen 2 bobcats this year near my land. Last year while I was watching storms move around from the incredible vantage point that I have I saw a mountain lion. It was very close. But it left not caring to hang out with me.

This is a great time to visit our area. I hope you try it.
