What will you do with your Digital Picture Frame?
Digital picture frames provide a slideshow of photos you place on a memory card that is quickly placed in the back or side of the frame. Some of these frames have sound that you can use with them, others just display the photos.
Well, it's just a matter of time before two things will happen around these digital picture frames.
First the price will come down to a reasonable level, they are starting to get there but I bet by Christmas you will see a flood of them on the market. The current pricing on these digital picture frames can approach the price of a quality 19" flat panel monitor!!
Second, there will be a use for these in the real estate profession. Now, where to use them? The places I thought might work best for this new technology are as follows:
- On your desk for other real estate agents and guests to see your listings.
- At the front desk of your office where clients, vendors and prospects will see as they come in the lobby.
- At an open house where you have your guest book displayed, maybe not to show off the open house, but to display other listings you have available. Might be a stretch, but could work.
- What about placing one in a referring business partners front lobby with a set of business cards? Doctors, dentists, lawyers, accountants, title company, mortgage broker, or you name a few!
What do you think would be a good place to display for you to put a digital picture frame? Any ideas?
However, before you rush out to purchase one of these products, I would suggest you test the quality against the price you will pay. Take a memory card with you of pictures you have taken to see what they will look like in one of the frames. Just place the card in the memory slot on the side or back and plug in the power! Check it out, see if it meets your needs!
What do you think, could this work for you? Any other ideas?

I sat in on a couple of different CPA offices during tax season. I would've loved to have one of these while I was presenting there. Even now it's a great item to have when you're holding a seminar at the office. I've yet to take pictures of myself with my clients at there homes to add to their testimonials but I will soon enough and I think that this picture frame is great!
How about the front lobby of your office?
I just purchased the Philipps 9" for a client of mine as a wedding gift. It was Lucite and steel and the top of the line from Sharper Image. I really liked it and she sends me about 50 pictures a year of her grand kids ( a young grandmother). Her comments were that she loved it and will set it up with the added storage card ( 2 Gig) of hundreds of pictures of her grand children. Exactly as I had invisioned.
Ricardo, I like it! Great to have clients provide testimonials that will last a lifetime! Nice gift!
William, you gave a valuable item that will be talked about all year long. Great idea!
I've been wanting one of these for some time, just waiting for the price to get more reasonable. I would set it to show our available rentals as well as listings.
Leslie, that's another fantastic idea! Would you display this in your office or ??? Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
I love these frames. We have one for personal use in our house. I had always seen them around the $300 price. Then a year ago we saw them at Kohl's for $99. It is very nice quality. Include black and brown frame. Not too thick, slim design. Has usb connection, has internal hard drive, has memory stick slots, plugs into the wall, has a bunch of features we don't even use. But I really love it. Everyone thinks its cool too. At first they think it is a lighted picture frame. Then they see the picture change and oh the conversation starts. Very cool. I'd never thought of business applications for it, but your ideas sound great.
Sounds like a great idea. I have used my laptop to show slides at open houses, but then I couldn't use it for other things. At $100 or less, having a slide show going at an open house would be a great attention getter. Maybe someone would talk to you instead of just mumbling and tire kicking.
PS: can powerpoint slides be converted to show on these?
Angie, Thanks, I just thought how can this be used in the business world. I think about things all the time though. My wife tells me I never stop thinking about how to make something profitable. I can't help it, just the way my mind works. I was raised in an entrepreneurial family and we tend to work too many hours and for less than we should. Be I enjoy helping people and would do more if it if I could. Thanks for sharing!
Jim, I believe the answer to be yes, but I haven't tried it. Powerpoint slides can be converted using a number of programs and pictures are in the jpg, gif, bmp and other formats. Seems like it would work, maybe someone out there has already done this and could comment! Thanks for commenting!
Henry, great comment, one worth checking out. I hadn't thought about the automation of the time. A feature worth purchasing! Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
What a great thought! I'm going to put that into my idea book! I love the idea of the referring business one. A doctors office waiting room or something where you have a captive audience would be priceless! ;)
John & Jessica, I'm glad you liked it! I think it would work well if you incorporated a photo every 5 to 7 slides with your information on it. Maybe 4-6 teasers through out the presentation to attract attention, don't repeat the same photo, make them all different. Thanks for reading and commenting!
David, your post jogged my memory. I was given a Ceiva digital frame a few years ago and ended up buying a few to give as gifts to friends & clients but they were all around the $300+ price point back then.
As you pointed out, the price has dropped dramatically and will probably continue as did VCRs, DVD players, etc...
Once these babies become more of a commodity type item and sell for $50 or less, they'll make amazing closing gifts, marketing tools, etc... The possibilities are dancing in my head.
Marti, I with you, I would like to see the prices get down to the $50 level and for a minimum size of 8x10. Larger would be better though! Thanks for sharing!
