I'm a DONOR! I've been donating blood since I was "old enough" and decided to try! I was a senior at Armwood High School in Seffner, FL when I first donated blood. What a feeling to know I was helping someone out. How exciting to know I could be the very person who could help out a friend, family member or stranger who needed my blood in an emergency! Wow! That was all it took. Well, that and the opportunity to "get out of class" for an hour at the time! This was the beginning of my dedication to donate.
Florida Blood Services gives you many options to donate blood and save a life. This service benefits the young, old, healthy and sick. You can start a new habit today that could save a life. Do you have ONE HOUR to spare once every 2 months?
Florida Blood Services is located in four counties on the West Coast of Florida. The last time I donated blood was at the Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center in Brandon, FL during their Open House. I've donated blood at one of my favorite title companies in the past in memory of the owner who had recently passed away. You don't have to wait for a blood drive...you can go anytime!
Check out the Donor Center Locations to find the closest and most convenient for you. You can also choose Blood Drives By City or zip code. Get out your calendar(s) and just pick a Date to donate and take a friend!
It's a good habit, very rewarding, and could save a life!
If you have questions or concerns about donating blood, you can Contact the office by email or calling (800) 68-BLOOD.

Susie, I do I do! I donate as often as I can! Thanks for the reminder of how important this is!
Kim - I have gone through spells where I couldn't for one reason or another. It's such a great feeling! I'm hoping my boys will follow the path and SHARE LIFE with someone else!
I have before and would if someone specifically said "Hey I need your blood" ..but honestly, it just gives me the heeby-jeebies! I feel nauseous and like I'm going to faint!
Hi Susie, I don't do this but I should!!! Thank you for bringing this up. You never know when someone will need it.
Susie, I ditto what Stephanie just said...I have family members with rare blood types that are continually called to give when the supply is low. I haven't and should. Good post!
Susie - I'm not a regular - I had a phobia but then I donated and it wasn't bad so I need to do it more - you're such a great gal!!
I'd always wanted to be a donor since I've been an extremely healthy person my entire life and because I have O-negative blood. So in 1997 I got tested by the Red Cross and I have Hepatitis B antibodies, so no go. They can use the plasma, but not the blood. Not knowing anything about plasma and its use, I've never donated. :-(
Katrina - If you get a good nurse...the whole process is fine!
Stephanie - You are the BEST GREEN GIRL! You do enough to "give back" already...
Teri - You're not alone...don't guilt yourself!
Cyndee - we can go TOGETHER sometime...I'll hold your hand! LOL
Tchaka - Teh blood platelets are actually more important than the blood! It just takes about 2 hours per visit if you ever get a chance to go.
