Will today's ultra modern be tomorrow's ultra outdated?

Just some hypothetical questions: What will my children's generation think of the ultra "modern" homes of today?  What will they think of the homes we build now that claim to be timeless in their classic style?  I wonder if they'll think the same thing that I think when I drive through a neighborhood built in 1970, where the homes have exterior stone that no one would dare put on their homes today.

I don't dare think that these new homes will ever go out of style; they are so stylish after all.  Such beautiful woods and rich colors.  Such spacious areas and luxurious amenities.  I just wonder sometimes what the future will hold for home design.  I mean, how much better could it get?  But isn't that what everyone says in thier time?

Anyway, everybody I know has diverse points of view when I bring this up, as I'm sure everyone on Activerain does, but they are interesting questions nonetheless.
