Living in Portsmouth New Hampshire is just awesome, and our local Farmer's Market just makes it that much more enjoyable!
If you love buying locally grown fruits and veggies, beautiful plants and flowers, and other locally grown and/or made products, then our Portsmouth Farmer's Market every Saturday morning is the place for YOU!!
The Seacoast Growers' Association has been in existence for 31 years now, and has local Farmer's Markets in six locations throughout the week. Saturdays are the day for Portsmouth to shine with local products.
Located in the Portsmouth City Hall parking lot, the Seacoast Growers' Association vendors happily sell their wares from 8am to 1pm, with many of them offering samples of their new products.
To ensure locally made and grown products are of the highest quality, the 50+ vendors are periodically audited by the Seacoast Growers' Association. These audits help the association keep up and maintain their reputation of having the best local products and wares for all of us to buy each week.
I stopped by the Farmer's Market this morning, and discovered a wonderful new vendor that I had not seen there before - Jewell Towne Winery. They've got some wonderful wines they're selling at the Farmer's Market, and I saw a number of people buying them up. Several of the customers who were there when I stopped by were raving about the varieties they had already tried at home. If you enjoy wine, check out their wines. And if you're in South Hampton NH, stop by their winery for a tour and tastings.
A number of the vendors display yummy looking fruits and vegetables - I came home with some beautiful tomatoes this morning! Can't wait to slice those up! Corn, potatoes, squash, berries, and more - you name it, you can probably find it here throughout the summer into late fall!
Want some lamb? How about some homemade soaps, candles, and creams? Locally made herbal teas and extracts? Plants for your garden? Or how about some stunningly beautiful local photography - prints, cards, magnets, and more? Fresh baked breads, cookies, and pies? Beautiful pottery? You can find all this and so much more at our terrific Portsmouth Farmer's Market!
Saturdays at the Market - what a perfect place to catch up with old friends, meet new friends, get fresh locally grown produce for the week, and listen to some wonderful local bands........it just doesn't get any better than this!!
For some beautiful picture tours of our local area and around the state, be sure to click on the button below - there are lots of pictures on some of the tours, so please be patient so the pictures can load. It's worth the wait!!
If you're thinking about making Portsmouth New Hampshire your home, I'd be delighted to show you how great coastal living here in Portsmouth really is!

Farmer's Markets are one of the best things about summer! Nice post.
Hi Carol - thanks so much for reading this post! I LOVE farmer's markets - you never know what kinds of great local food and other products you'll find that you just HAVE to go home with! Farmer's Markets definitely mean summer to me, too!
Ann
Ann - I wrote not too long ago about the Farmers Markets in my town. Today, I am in New Jersey, we went to a great little Farmers Market...........There is nothing like hresh vegetables and fruit this time of year.
I sure enjoyed your post---it reminded me of the farmer's markets I used to visit when I lived in the north.
Hi Paula - There really is nothing like fresh produce, and I also love checking out the locally made products, too, like breads, soaps, pottery, etc. While on vacation, we went to a farmer's market a couple of times - just love going to those, even if I don't buy anything!
Hi Diane - I'm glad my post brought back some nice memories for you! Don't they have farmer's markets down in your area? If they don't, that's really too bad......
Thanks for reading and for commenting - much appreciated!
Ann
Ann.... sounds like they have much to offer. I myself love fruits..... fresh fruit is the best. thanks for sharing this.
Anne, WOW that is a post that took a long time to get together. I love farmers markets. Yummy, and I run into so many people that I know and haven't seen in awhile.
Hi Jeff - I hadn't really thought about it until I read your comment, but there really are a nice variety of things offered at our Farmer's Markets here. Everything from soaps and creams, to eggs, meats, fruits, veggies, wine, breads, plants, and more. You can also find wooden bowls, artwork, sometimes there's clothing, as well some yummy prepared foods, too. As the summer goes on, more and more great products show up - keeps you coming back each Saturday!
Ann
Hey Missy - thanks so much for stopping by!
Farmer's Markets are such a treat wherever you find them! I love stopping at them as you never know what kinds of great treats you'll come across. And I never fail to run into people I know every time I stop by our market - they're great for catching up with people like that.
Ann
Ann,
I like them too..but then I tend to spend too much money eating there:) Actually is a good place to see all the different types of items they have. We used to go to the one in NY Greenwich Village on Sundays.
Hi Neal - it is easy to spend some serious money at some Farmer's Markets, that's for sure!! But just think about all the local farmers and vendors you're helping out by doing so, AND all the fresh locally grown and made goodies you're getting!! ;-)
Ann
I LOVE Famer's Markets! We have one that is in a different place every day. Such YUMMY food!!! I find good honey there as well. Well done my friend!
Hi Ann...now I'll have to check out that new winery! How many does NH have now? There is a good one in Lee/Nottingham called Flagg Hill. You may have seen them at a Fair! before you know it there will be wine tours !!Like in California...
Hi Mariana - Farmer's Markets just have such a home town feeling and flavor to them. I try to get to ours as often as I can - so many yummy goodies there each week, and the produce continually changes as the seasons change. Thanks!!
Hi Joan - yes, I'm familiar with Flagg Hill Winery - a friend of ours owns it, and we also know someone else who works there. Frank Reinhold, the owner, was a REALTOR for a number of years in this area. Frank gave us tours a couple of times, and their wine tastings are fun, too. We could be the "Wine Country" of the East Coast! ;-)
Ann
Hi Ann You make me want to move there! We have a couple farmer's market here, one of them by the river. Loved your post.
Hi Midori - well you'd certainly be very welcome here, that's for sure!! This is such a vibrant community-oriented area, even in the thick of winter, we've got lots of great things going on.
Thanks for your comments - much appreciated!

Hi Ann: It looks like it is time for me to take a trip to Portsmouth soon. I love the pictures and the tour. It makes me hungry! It is so nice to support local farmers and enjoy the outdoors.
Hi Joan - come on over!! You know you'll enjoy your trip! I always try to buy local when I can, and Farmer's Markets are the perfect opportunity to do just that.
