Bikers in Ohio Die Less OftenJuly 25th, 2007 categories: Columbus News
I live down the street from Big Dog Motorcycles on Broad Street and I always pass by and see motorcycle enthusiasts cruising in and out. I also stop by their cafe from time to time for a good, quick bite. Anyway, even though most of the riders I see aren’t wearing helmets, I was under the impression that Motorcycle riders in Ohio did have to wear helmets but there is no helmet law in Ohio for adults. Coincidentally, Riders were not wearing helmets in at least 70 percent of the Ohio motorcycle deaths in 2006, a State Highway Patrol Spokesman said. I mention all of this because I’ve seen more and more scooter riders around midtown Columbus lately and the same laws apply to them. I think Columbus is a very Scooterable city and I’d love to see more and more scooters and less and less cars.
