Ft. Lewis is divided into Main Post and North Fort Lewis. The two parts of the installation are divided by Interstate-5. If arriving in Washington by plane, the ride to Ft. Lewis from SeaTac airport will take approximately 45 minutes. All initial in-processing takes place at Waller Hall, which is easy to find, due to plenty of signage around post. The on-post lodging facility has recently been enlarged, ensuring space availability. For overflow requirements, there are several nice hotels immediately outside the installation. The housing office is located right next to Waller Hall and it's a good place to research rental homes and to get placed on the on-post housing list. Communities to explore for safe, affordable, high quality off-post living are Dupont, Lacey, Olympia and Yelm.
