Sometimes, dumb luck just works best... that's how I felt when I was checking my mail the other day just to find that a journalist had found my answer on Trulia Voices and wanted to use some quotes from my answer and my blog to help substantiate her position in an article....
I'm excited about it and more than that I'm just enjoying the great press and validation of what I am doing and saying out there in the real world.

Six consumer questions about how mortgage-market issues affect them
By Amy Hoak, MarketWatch

Wow... I was very happy... until I realized that I really didn't want her to link to the wrong blog site... I didn't want to look like a total amateur - only partially amateurish is the worst I'll do...
So I scrambled. I phoned a few people like Colleen Kulikowski ... emailed a few more like Jeff Turner and Jeff Corbett... then I even got on Facebook and contacted a high powered Blog Theme designer!!
Everyone had great advice and I appreciate it all...
So here's what I did. I got my hosting package with Linux Apache Server... and installed Wordpress. I then got back on Facebook and got the blessing to use one of my designer-friend's themes called Cutline!
I then spent some time adding content, tweaking and getting my new site up and running complete with the new post that Amy Hoak was interesed in quoting...
After all that work, my new site was born!!
http://www.themortgagegotoguy.com

That's what it looks like! Check it out and let me know what you think... heck, leave a comment, digg it, whatever...
So... before the first 24 hours of this new site's existence.... it was exploding with hits from all over the globe... thanks to the lucky timing of a MarketWatch article!

That looks pretty neat...I have to get more educated and then maybe can do an outside one...I think I'd be lonely out there though.
Good job David!
Once I get a few bugs ironed out, I could help!
Congratulations! That's awesome! Sometimes dumb luck is so GREAT! That's how I felt when the owner of www.baycolony.com and www.baycolony.net emailed me out of the blue earlier this summer and asked me if I was interested in buying those domain names. I about choked because Bay Colony is one of my absolute favorite neighborhoods in Naples (VERY exclusive) and the major real estate companies would've killed to have had them. How did I get so lucky???
Great blog, very kewl, Congrats. Good luck with the new site
Shannon - depends on how much he wants for them!
If you ever need some mortgage content -let me know!
Congratulations David! Great job on the scramble.
Tom - thanks!!
Leo - thanks!

Enjoy the PR!!! And we can all say we knew you when.... :-)
Nothing dumb about writing great content... Great job on the scramble to take in all of the new love!
Now THAT'S how it is done. Better than sliced bread. Can you have market watch help us all launch our new blogs? :)
David, What can I write but YOU DA MAN!!... Now can you come out for at least for one cigar and maybe a scotch?
Good job David...
David,
Good deal, congratualtions!! :0)

Sometimes dumb luck is better than planning -- go figure.
great job..... especially in a short period of time.
i keep giving the wrong answers to bloomberg, they wont use my comments
David -- The site looks fantastic! I have what may be a silly question. . .If you just got the site up and running, how do you have an archive that dates back to May. I have been using the free version of Wordpress and the system automatically dates and archives everything. Is the self-hosted version more flexible?
Hi David, Megan from Trulia here. Just wanted to say congrats! Glad to see Trulia Voices working for you. Pretty impressive that you were able to do a revamp of your blog so quickly, and without running into many technical issues. I made changes to my blog structure several months ago and it caused my feed to go down and the links to go bad.
~ Megan
WOW... I take a breadk and I come back to get slammed
Thanks to all for the great compliments... I appreciate it

Cyndee - go Cats!
Chris - ummm... I'll see what I can do... I think she said she'd only work with people who use me exclusively ;)
Megan - thanks... wordpress was easy. I had that same issue and it is in the .htaccess file. I will be changing it later tomorrow when I can get tech support to tweak my database
Lori - I was using Blogger AND Wordpress.com... I liked the layout of Wordpress better... it was cleaner. Blogger had oomph though.. being a google product it was indexed more often!!
I switched to Wordpress.org... which is a download and install on your own hosting. You can do ANYTHING with it. It is a Content Management System... and to tell you the truth, I had a few other secret weapons that helped me move content and get it up and running in no time! I should consult on it!
David, looks like you did a lot of running around to get your site set up. I just went there and it looks great, but it looks different than it looks up above.
Funny how things work out! I think this is why I love this business. Hard Work and Luck all it takes is one great contact.
I love this - great help - great job and creating business for each and everyone of us.
thanks for the info, check out my blog site and tell me what you think: http://blog.juanleal.com
It's not dumb luck when you make it a point to be the expert in your area and freely give the information to the consumers. And even less dumb luck when you realize the opportunity and publicity you can get from this article and make the most of it. You are one smart cookie, David. My hat's off to you.
George... I saw you were there! That is the about page.. the banner image actually rotates... thanks for the comments!
Rebecca - exactly - thanks!
Thesa - thanks for yet another comment :) careful or they'll think you've subscribed to me or something ;)
Juan - I'll check it out....
Betsy... thank you :) I definitely knew that it was too good an opportunity to miss.
EVERYONE - just FYI... Juan Leal is a new Rainer - he's a friend of mine and used to work with me in a past career - I was his Sales Manager! Juan is Mr. Flamingo. He is the unofficial top producer in the biggest Condo Conversion project in Miami's South Beach - the FLamingo...
