It is German in heritage -- both Bucyrus and bratwurst, so it would make since that this small city in north-central Ohio would honor its heritage with one of Ohio's premier festivals.
And if you've never been to the Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival, you are missing out on one good time. Bucyrus, a city of 13,000 residents located about an hour northwest of Columbus, will welcome thousands more to town to enjoy the festivities from the opening at 1 p.m. on Thursday thourgh the closing at 11 p.m. on Saturday.
Entertainment at this year's festival includes a parade every day - Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m. and at 4 p.m. on Saturday - and the OSU Alumni Band at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Other events include (the official schedule):
And that's just on Thursday, so you can imagine the exciting events that are happening throughout the weekend.
Again this year there will an Arts and Crafts Festival at City Hall throughout the festival and lots of concession stands will be available -- and a few even have bratwurst!
The event is located in downtown Bucyrus on Sandusky Avenue (State Route 4) between Charles and Mary Streets.
Tip From a Previous Visitor: Bring good walking shoes! This is a popular event and you'll probably be parking well away from the festival and walking to the midway; and then walking the midway.

I grew up in Wisconsin so I am a brat addict. Thanks for notifying!!!
Bratwurst, weiss wurst, knock wiurst....I'm in heaven.
It is different than your "mass-marketed" Wisconsin brats. It has a more sausage flavor - granted that's if you you get it from the "official" Bucyrus Bratwurst tent -- I'd bet the concessionars are using mass-produced Wisconsin brats.
My second-cousin took me to a little German restuarant in Fond Du Lac and it was amazing how much better the brats tasted than they do anywhere else!
I grew up in Wisconsin and I like a good brat... there are good brats in Wisconsin Toby, shame on you! :- )
No what is shipped out to the other 48 states is not the good stuff. They hoard those for themselves.
Toby
John - with a last name like Klassen, I'm amazed :-)
Maureen - I agree with you 100 percent! Ohio brats are good -- but the "real stuff" in Wisconsin just has an amazing flavor.
Mike - Guess we don't even need to go compete as you've claimed all the prizes :-)
BTW, Northmen is a local band.
Thanks Toby, now I'm hungry!! Would the Queens Pageant be similar to a Miami Queens Pageant??
I don't think so Ines ... however I was thinking the same thing :p
Have fun! Enjoy the e Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival, Stay healthy! Katerina
Healthy? Hmm ... are you saying I shouldn't enter the brat eating contest? :-)
We were talking about going up on Saturday, but I think we are going to a fund-raiser at Mom and Dad's church instead after our Heart Walk.
Definetely NOT good for the Heart! Katerina
