Bonita Springs, Brace Yourself. They're Back!

Bonita Fairways To the rest of the world this looks just like any other car carrier. I saw the first one last week while I was at dinner at Wylds Cafe. It drove by and I shrieked. My dinner guest is from the Carolinas and was surprised it was such a big deal.

I thought it could be a fluke and then today, right in front Bonita Fairways and Serrano I snapped this shot. (Yes, while driving)

To the residents of Bonita Springs and Southwest Florida this means one thing: They're on the way! Whatever you call them:

  • Tourists
  • Snow Birds
  • Winter Birds
  • Seasonal residents
  • Northerners
  • Frog Heads (my least favorite, naturally)

They loaded up in April and May and left! Now through November car carriers will line the street of US 41 - Tamiami Trail and offload the vehicles of our seasonal residents. The residents put their cars in transport and fly down to meet them. It's a glorious site! We've missed them!

It's been a long, hot summer and we could use some new friendly faces to look at in these parts!

Hi Chris -- I had never heard of that. LOL  When our snowbirds come they all ready have a car here.  We really do not have that many true snow birds.  Thanks for sharing.  Aloha

Those that don't care to make the drive just throw it on a truck.  What does HI have interstate highways anyway? LOL

They're leaving HERE  to go THERE.  While their relatives might breathe a tiny sigh of relief, the businesses sure miss them.

Is THAT how they go back?!  LOL!  My snowbird relatives always drove the cars themselves.  Must be a WV thing.

Hey with prices coming down, you should see more and more of these.

So this is a good thing, correct? They bring money to invest?

They bring their smiling faces and fill their empty houses.  It's so quiet over the summers here.

We "were" going to have the SuperFerry running around between islands...protesting and stopped.....then we could go from island to island with our cars.

Sarah, the such as, drive, like cars, for people to read in, from South Africa so that their education is finished and they take naps.  Some take snaps.

Chris, OMG!!  LOL -- you said it in public!!

Now, I'm going to go live in a cave with Osama and the little girl from South Carolina.

Snaps won't be the same when Jason get Arthritis.

Interstate 81 and 95 will be filled with Large RVs in convoys around here...

Thank heaven they are coming...this state LIVES on the tourist trade and many decide to purchase homes and stay! I say WELCOME BACK!!!

So how come we don't see an influx the other direction in the summer from summer birds...just kidding!

Chris, what a great attitude you have about your snowbirds!  My parents spend 6 months in Colorado and then 6 months in Arizona.  They have done that for years and love it.  My Dad at 90 still drives his van across the mountains to get there.  He is in EXCELLENT health for 90!

There is nothing better than an early morning snap!

Unless it's two snaps.

Two Snaps are better than one!

Unless the snapping partners is unqualified.

Yes, if it like trying to shoot pool with a rope or watching re-runs of The Chevy Chase Show, throw that snap right out the window!

Chris, Great!!! We are ready for them to return!!  Never thought of the parade like this.  We have a lot of those special ones that are enclosed like the high bred race horses for cars.  I will chuckle now every time I see one of our returning transports and even do some snaps.
