Summit County Colorado fall update 2007

Summit Fall update 2007

Living in the Colorado High Country changes your whole sense of values and priorities, as everyday pleasures become more centered on the beauty of our outdoors.

The Board of County Commissioners awarded grants to 11 local fire mitigation projects this week and plans to Foresthand out up to another $230,000 this fall. The county's programs goal is to reduce wildfire danger awarding matching grants to neighborhoods for projects such as thinning trees, creating defensible space around homes and clearing out dead and dying trees. The areas that received money were Hoosier Pass, TenMile Vista trailhead, Town of Dillon, and the homeowners associations of Bekkedal, Bill's Ranch, Eagles Nest, Highland Meadows, Keystone West Ranch, Pebble Creek Ranch, Summit Estates and Lewis Ranch and the Willow Brook Metro District.

With thunder storms rolling in almost every late afternoon, July lived up to its historic record as the wettest month of the year, with thunderstorms dumping more than two inches of rain across the local area. August has continued the same trend and its shaping to be a great summer for precipitation across Summit County.

BreckenridgeThe Breckenridge Recreation Center Aquatics Area will be closed Sept. 4 to approximately Nov. 8, while it undergoes major pool area and building mechanical repairs and upgrades. These renovations will involve the closure of all swimming pools and hot tubs, the steam room, sauna and family locker room. The entire Aquatics Area is scheduled to reopen on approximately Nov. 9. Arrangements are being made for Recreation Center Members to use the pools at the Silverthorne Recreation Center in Silverthorne during the closure. During this time the rest of the Breckenridge Center will be open except for annual maintenance Oct 22 to Oct 28 2007.

Wow, what a couple of months for Real Estate in Summit County Colorado. Summit County Continues to be one of the Leaders in residential property appreciation in the country. The Summit Association of Realtors reported double digit increases in homes sold for the month of July with August shaping up to continue this trend. Sales have been robust and the speculation is Summit County Colorado is still the best value of all the major ski resorts. We are also seeing an influx of money from other under-performing investment like the stock market and other decline real estate markets. Overall Summit County is poised to continue its double digit year over year appreciation and sales volume.

Ski season is rapidly approaching and the outlook is great. With all 4 area resorts in Summit County poised to continue to expand and enhance their visitor experience we are looking forward to another record breaking year at the slopes. Season passes are on sale at most of the resorts and Copper Mountain our family's personal Blue River Fallfavorite still has early season discounts on season passes.

Have a wonderful fall and don't miss the approaching season change in Summit County Colorado. The Aspen trees are almost ready to turn gold they are a sight to behold, and the cool crisp evenings of the fall are almost upon us.
