WARNING WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO READ WILL BE BIASED BASED UPON THE AUTHORS OWN OPINION OF LIVING IN THE PHOENIX REGION FOR OVER 24 YEARS. THANK YOU!!
Tempe, Arizona "The Best City in the Valley of the Sun"

Let me first start by giving you my background. Like most Zonies (short for Arizona citizens) I was transplanted from another part of the country. My family decided to move to the Phoenix Market 24 years ago from a suburb of Milwaukee Wisconsin. Most transplants who can survive 2 summers in a row, are given the honored status of Native, even though you came from another part of the country. Finding true Natives are as rare as finding a rattlesnake on a hiking trail. So after 24 summers later and living in 4 cities throughout the valley let me share why I feel Tempe has more to offer then the rest of the cities of the valley.
- Tempe has the best geograpic location in the valley. Let me elaborate. Tempe is only 5-10 minutes to Sky Harbor Airport, so traveling is great, Tempe is only 5-10 minutes away from 3 huge shopping malls (Chandler Fashion, Fiesta, and Scottsdale Fashion), and only 15 minutes to downtown Phoenix.
- Tempe has the best freeway and transit system. We have the Interstate 10 West of the City, We have the 101 East of the City, We have the US 60 South of the City and we have the 202 North of the City. Our entire city is has great freeway access to redirect you quickly and efficently to the rest of the valley. Also the new lightrail will go right through Tempe and reconnect us with downtown Phoenix.
- Tempe has a great employment market.
- Tempe has a steady housing market.
- Tempe is a city of higher learning. With Arizona State University being the heart of the city, its a great place for thinkers.
- Tempe has the best entertainment, bar scene, restaurants, and nightlife. Let me just highlight what this city offers. The city has Sun Devil Football, Basketball and Baseball. Spring training fun with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Mill Avenue, Tempe Town Lake and Gammage.
- Tempe has a reasonable tax rate.
- Tempe hosts events every year that brings its citizens and visitors to the region such as the New Years Block Party, Fourth of July Celebration, Arts Festivals, and Octoberfest.
I know there is so much more to share. If you are looking to relocate to the valley, please see what Tempe has to offer. I would be more then happy to share all I know about the city and other cities within the valley.

I graduated from ASU, and I LOVE Tempe. If I HAD to live in the Valley, that would be my choice. I don't, however, like the climate or the traffic, and am lucky enough to live in Payson.
